I'm no longer motivated to share when that only ends up feeding the machine intent on replacing me and I'm no longer interested in looking at other's contributions when it likely contains vomit from that very same machine, whether disclosed or not. This doesn't bode well for the future of open source or free culture in general and I do hope that well get the societal and legislative changes needed to make sharing a remotely fair proposition again but, considering that the entire economy has been essentially a big casino for over a decade now and all the winners are not held accountable for the issues they cause because doing so would bring the entire system crashing down, I'm not optimistic about that happening within my lifetime.
Having your work hoovered up by Big AI is no different to having your app hosted by AWS whereby AWS makes a ton of money and you get the bug reports to fix for free (if you are lucky). Only before it would take AWS to fork and maintain something like OpenSearch in such a situation.
It's a sad situation but exploitation is hardly new, and hardly unique to software.
