Heavy lift drones are pretty common, a 150kg or more payload is enough for a soldier with his individual equipment. The are pretty short ranged but they only need to reach to a few kms into the grey zone and back.

See e.g. the KF 150 multi copter. And it's sub $50k

Yeah, more weigh less range. 100 KG human with body armour/rifle, and a small combat load would be around that 150KG limit.

Problem is staging is hard, because you take fire trying to set them up, so you need to be further away, which brings up the weight/range issues.

And that's why the war is fought with one way attack drones, to maximize range and payload.

You could have separate drones bring the gear.

If you weren't improvising with a bomber, you could also just build a slightly larger drone.

Non US soldiers don't tend to be that heavy.
