You can personally elected to discard the reasons because you don’t agree…
Err but you do realize disagreeing with other people doesn’t make their reason for doing something disappear?

For some context, wealth inequality reached the greatest level ever in America's history last year. The gap will grow again this year. Historically, there is a strong correlation between wealth inequality and political polarization in America, and beyond.
I recall people making similar claims about Reagan, for different reasons. I ignored those as well.
Perhaps this is why things have become worse? (because so many did the ostrich)
What we are seeing has a cyclical aspect to it, wealth inequality grows, people are eventually moved to action, things get better, we grow complacent. That does not mean there is nothing unprecedented, each cycle has unprecedented actions and happenings.
For a clear point of difference, computers and the internet did not exist the last time. We also have Ai as an emerging technology. The advent of the computer changed automation, the scale and speed we could create it at, as well as the nature of new task creation. We stopped creating new tasks for labor (or those who do not attend college). This all coincides with Reagan, hence the shallow associations. Also at the same time was a long period of deregulation, financialization, and globalization of the economy.
Another point of difference, in our lives, is that America has never had a president who spends so much time thinking about monuments with their name on it. Nor have we seen such open nepotism.
