They say they plan long term but look at what they do: build entire cities for nothing. A Supreme Leader who clings to power in advanced age, with no successor, setting the system up for a power struggle after his departure.

They can have long term plans but they suffer from the consequences of authoritarian government.

Not the same problems as democracy but I would argue that authoritarianism is even worse.
