As much as I would love to make the most of these tools, I am not confident that yielding control of my personal data won't hurt me - and this seems like table-stakes, based on the type of value everyone is getting from them.

I dont even know what should be private anymore - if US federal agencies can just buy ad data, join it with Flock, sprinkle Instagram in there, and inner join Social Security dump from doge, do I just give up and put the sex toys in the parlor window? Am I one OpenAI-sued-by-a-newspaper away from giving up the ghost?

I'm personally with you.

I'd never give any company this much access to my personal data and daily life. It is beyond creepy. Yes, they can probably join the data buts it's another thing to open the door to it.

What about Gmail?

I wouldn't give Anthropic this much access to my life, because frankly they haven't built up enough trust. Google have been pretty good for decades so I'd me much more likely to trust them. I'm sure they're working on something identical that will likely be able to take better advantage over integration into Android, Chrome, Gmail, etc.

I assume anything in Google is public information. I trust Google to respect my privacy focused settings and opt out preferences.

So far they have. If they don't I'll leave, just as I abandoned social media after the Cambridge analytica scandal.

In terms of AI companies, I personally don't want an AI companion integrated into every aspect of my life so they will never get it from me.

These companies have demonstrated they have no ethics (despite their posturing). See absorbing every piece of copyright and intellectual property and calling it fair use.

You assume your email is public information?

I cant think of a single reason why Id need a personal assistant, human or LLM based. Most do not.

I'd like something to pick up clothes from the floor and fold them away. Something to stack and unstack the dish washer. As long as the bot wouldn't accidentally set fire to the house.

I thought you were going to give up and put the sex toys in something else. Glad you are only going to put them in the parlor window.
