Look hyperlocally to Texas' own statewide overrulings of citizens' wishes:
1) Using state police to enforce laws that cities choose not to
2) Preventing cities from local environmental policies
3) Silly marijuana laws, when the vast majority of Texans support recreational taxation (whether they partake, or just want the taxbase/freedom!)
My take-away is that the Texas GOP hates most of its constituents... or at least thinks they "know better" ..?

>If you want to teach people, don't talk down to them.
>If you want to lead people, find out where they want to go!
>People love leaders who make them feel safe, without smothering them.
>They'll always support a leader like that, and because he doesn't try to compete with anybody else, nobody is able to compete with him.

>People who know too much cannot be taught anything.

>Leaders who keep it simple often make things right.
