Though I respect the sentiment of his concerns, it is indeed a pipe dream. What do we expect the five eyes are doing? Certainly not sacrificing intelligence to bolster iPhone security, any day of the week.
I honestly expect the spy agencies to be actively working to undermine any and every system up to and including having agents hired specifically to add/discover vulns from within the companies. It is there entire purpose to gather intelligence. To expect them to make it harder to do that is just not even near the realm of realistic.
