I think their question is whether it's replaced work in industries focused on that - AI movies becoming popular and very profitable, AI written books selling large numbers etc

Very possibly on the way but so less uptake than software engineering for sure.

It's on the verge of that. If I open X then quite a few posts in the feed will be AI generated music videos right now, and for some reason people doing gender swap fanfics of Draco[nia] Malfoy/Harry Potter romances. People are finding them entertaining.

Ahh, got it. Even if it not a fully AI generated movie or book, I'm sure it is common for people in those industries to use AI.
