The version of the documentation which I would very much like to see would be a Literate Programming version where all the code is explained from the ground up.

That's a great idea. I wonder if any major library (or language) has attempted a version their site in that style.

I'd love to experiment with this myself.

There is! As of now, if you sort by recently updated, my literate programming project is the first result :P (link in profile if anyone reads this later)

In the interest of full disclosure, my own project is in there as well (but nowhere near the top and it's a kind of obscure topic, so not likely to ever get there).

I would probably go down the Lojban route though!
