Thus they are censored.

Part of the problem here is there are people that think any kind of censorship or moderation is wrong. I will not make any universal statement about the correctness of their position, but I will make a personal statement about their position. "They are fucking crazy".

Now, every once is a while you need a bit of fucking crazy to shock you out of the position you're in and reassess what position you should hold.

And by blocking certain people, you demonstrate to authorities that you can block anyone you want, and you will be held in contempt if you don't block anyone they want. As opposed to having no technical blocking capability.

I mean, this may have worked a decade or two ago, but if you built modern software this way the same government is going to toss your ass in jail.

"Oh no, I built a murder machine that I can't stop, I guess you can't prosecute me for that, it's out of my control".

You can only get away with that now if you're a billion dollar AI company. Otherwise the judge is going to halt your efforts and prosecute you for contempt and stupidity.

It's not for sure and you should consult a lawyer, but it's often the case that a court can't order you to do something you can't do.

Yet the law can. All the child protection laws we made years ago have made making unmoderated software very risky.

Notice how they had to make that the law before it became the law. Before it was the law, you didn't have to unless a court ordered you to.

Cannot they just make you implement the ability and make sure you are shut down till you did?

Sometimes, but that sort of thing has to clear a much higher legal bar than making you use a blocking ability you already have. See Apple vs FBI.

On the forum I'm on, chuds are required to include "trans lives matter" in their comments or they don't show up. It's like anti-censorship.

on rdrama? that website's insane. i think its strategy to moderation is to make people ironically roleplay as their political opposition... which just seems to make everyone ironic edgelords. using rdrama makes me sad.

Then you're using it wrong, it should make you laugh :marseylaugh:
