No. English is my 2nd language, and even though I started really early and spent plenty of time in English speaking countries I still suffer from the curse of limited idiom. Feel free to correct me at any time. I think in this case it was in part because the people that I know that live here were refugees from the war (kids at the time).

Don’t worry, it’s a pretty common expression used precisely as you did. Haven’t heard it that much in the US in recent times though, which is probably why the parent post complained.

It stuck out to me because I've seen it this week a lot, but as others are saying it's not incorrect, just different from my usual American lexicon.
