As a data generalist in an business, it makes zero sense for me to spend my time building a it tool like Hex when I can buy one and spend my time actually moving the needle on business outcomes.

I think you make a good point. Just because something _could_ be vibe-coded doesn't mean it should. You have to factor in maintenance, deployments etc.

However, I'd argue that BI tooling could "dissolve away" altogether. As long as you have queryable data, an intermediate BI tool is unnecessary - just one-shot whatever dashboard you're interested in seeing...

This is doing a lot of work! Decent model and semantic layer is critical, I think. And of course it has to make sense to the business/domain experts.
