How unusual is this? Amazon spent over a decade with junk ratings.

Amazon didn’t borrow anywhere near this much. They also had the sales tax loophole that let them outprice the competition and take their market share for over a decade.

Amazon also did not go from ~$1B revenue to $16B in one year.

Meh rookie numbers you give me $250B too and keep doing that every year I will generate revenue $125B revenue easy. I only have to sell a dollar for 50 cents .

Same Amazon to develop AWS to profitable business spent only 30B in all capex (including e-commerce) over 12 years between 2003-15 .

Right, OK, but then that's the interesting or newsworthy claim, not the company's ratings status --- junk status for companies that later went on to become among the most successful in the entire marketplace is not unprecedented.

It is the combination of several facts what makes this unprecedented, junk rating being one of these

Amazon did not acquire debt. Period.
