Curtin, Rio Tinto Partner to Keep Cane Toads Out of Pilbara

Well yes keeping cane toads at bay is a good idea but ...

>"Research shows cane toads need water every few days to survive the dry season and, where natural water sources are scarce, they often rely on artificial water points used for cattle and irrigation to survive."

I think someone near the top of the hierarchy needs to have a talk to folks over on the east coast that have witnessed droughts and how that relates to cane toads. Speaking as someone who's witnessed months long absences of available water, soil so dry that even the subsoil some 2 to 3 feet has changed ... toads do not die off. Certainly they don't breed without water, so removing access to any artificial water sources would be a good thing.
