If only we had a way to distribute scarce resources that wasn't rooted in determining who would be the best to decide how to centrally manage them. Perhaps we could do it in a way that let people bid against each other, with resources or currency they have, with the producers of the resources being contested, so as to further incentivize and enable the producers to make more of them, while also serving as a way to allocate resources which exist in a smaller supply than there is a demand for.

Even better if we had currency that itself wasn't centrally governed, but that's another matter...
