I wonder how efficient ORMs out there doing. My believe is that once performance profiling is done, and the crucial bottleneck is identified, people will replace the original call to ORM with a custom SQL query.

But heck, sometimes db language driver (like pymongo, python-mysql - just giving out example what I mean by language driver) are not optimized either. :) so a careful post-profiling analysis is required.
