Ask HN: How do you delete an HN user account?

I realize HN allows for relatively anonymous access anyway. Nevertheless, I was surprised that there was no option available to delete one's account.

It looks like you can just update an email to something meaningless. Though historical records might be retained for comment history, there is no specific reason that the username itself could not be removed.
