Ask HN: Music/ebook/app publishers how do you process/analyse your royalties?

I'm curious how publishers/labels (especially small and self publishers) of music, apps, ebook and other digital media manage their royalties?

In the simplest case the publisher would be keeping 100% of sales for themselves, so while there is need for analysis, there is no need for anything more complex, e.g. splitting out payments due to third parties. Beyond this, it seems to me that it starts to get complex very quickly, as you have a myriad of issues to consider - exchange rates, recoupment of advances, accounting periods, mechanical and other copyright payments to third parties, etc.

So with that in mind, do you:

- Do everything manually in a spreadsheet?

- Use a stand alone programme?

- Use a SaaS offering?

- Other?
