I Am an Object of Internet Ridicule, Ask Me Anything

Now it's different. Most of the time I think the time I spend browsing reddit is not well spent anymore. Even in the good subs I followed the hivemind has taken over. Pun threads are everywhere and even the most serious subreddits appear to me as shallow ghosts of what they once were.
The way Reddit's the frontpage of the Internet, is a way I don't like anymore.
Maybe it's me, maybe it's always been like that and I just happen not to like it anymore, after the n-th silly image turned into a sillier photoshop job or an even sillier meme. After the n-th drama stemming from the fact that Reddit as company is basically shit.
Or maybe something really changed.
Either way, I'm putting a 127.0.0.1 www.reddit.com line into my hosts file, and try and get rid of the slightest temptation to visit it once more. Let's see what happens in the next month. I'll try to read more books, I guess.
Also, do people really move to New York City without having jobs lined up? Is it that common?
Yes. Plug in "move to New York without a job" to a web search provider and you'll find sites like http://www.movingtonewyorkguide.com/moving-to-new-york-city-... , which starts:
> Moving to NYC with no job may seem like an impossible feat- but thousands of people do it successfully every year.
or advice like http://newnyers.com/2009/09/02/should-i-move-to-nyc-without-... or people like https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070310180400A... saying "I moved to NYC without a job.".
