Computer0··on Flock Defense "No Expectation of Privacy in Public" Is Wrong
bko, perhaps it would be helpful to research this topic a bit more before commenting, just to keep our discussions useful (https://www.404media.co/city-learns-flock-accessed-cameras-i...)

I didn't even get that far:

Computer0··on Wireless LAN SD
When is the last time you purchased a camera and how much did you spend? I am happy with the wireless performance of my Sony A7 SIII. I kind of splurged on it as my once in every 2 decades camera so I don't have anything to compare to besides connectivity first cameras (Drone).

Computer0··on ZCode – Harness for GLM-5.2
I have used it in gh copilot to some success, before the pricing changes. Thanks for the reminder.
Computer0··on ZCode – Harness for GLM-5.2
I would agree I cannot bear to use the TUI and I find myself in the terminal quite often. The value is good on the $10 plan so I still get decent usage on the desktop client but I would prefer a better terminal interface.
Computer0··on This Cell Feeds, Grows and Reproduces. and It's Manmade
Bad title for this big of a story imo. Are we less sure about life now than before today? Good excerpt:

“ Scientists hope synthetic cells can tell them things about life that natural cells cannot, including such basic questions as how many genes are necessary for a minimal form of life.

But synthetic cells also might someday be engineered to do things that natural cells can’t, like making new kinds of medicine or drawing large amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. In theory, engineered SpudCells might produce a vast range of proteins that natural cells cannot be coaxed to make, or even toxic chemicals like rocket fuel.

Now, “we can think about doing chemistry that we’re barely getting our heads around,” Dr. Glass said.”

Where is that?
Computer0··on The CEO of Mullvad is the main financer of the Swedish Örebro party
A refugee who is leaving their home country due to direct or indirect impacts of climate change. Think a devastating flood or something.
Computer0··on Claude Sonnet 5
I would indeed be more inclined to use it if the tokens per second were better. Though I would be then using their more expensive Opus less though. Perhaps it is strategy.
Computer0··on The CEO of Mullvad is the main financer of the Swedish Örebro party
There’s expected to be 1 billion climate refugees by 2050. What will be this factions answer to that? Bullets?
Computer0··on Israel targeted Gaza children resulting in genocide, UN inquiry says
The issue isn't the historical Jews living there (now Palestinian) the issues are the European Jews moving there claiming that they have some sort of connection to the land over say Poland.
Computer0··on My Steam Machine is a 50ft HDMI cable
Sorry I was referencing the authors comment about non fibre cables. Fibre indeed works wonders for these applications.
Computer0··on My Steam Machine is a 50ft HDMI cable
>I doubted long HDMI cables would work well, so I never bought one. Turns out we've had active fiber optics cables for a good while now!

Yeah I wouldn't recommend, if you have to though I have had better experience with DP. Also, you need the ones with the repeaters.

It has been hard to find 64gb sticks since they launched ime. I had much better luck building 96gb machines. Haven’t looked since the ram crisis.

Computer0··on OpenAI to Stagger Release of GPT 5.6 at Request of U.S. Government
I believe the initial reporting comes from 'The Information' which is highly respected. They have a substantial paywall however, so it won't likely be linked here. (https://www.theinformation.com/articles/trump-administration...)
Computer0··on NSA lost access to Mythos amid Anthropic dispute
I don't want a single person to be working at NSA and I find ANY terms to effectuate that outcome to be acceptable. Very much so including DOGE, which I despise.
Computer0··on NSA lost access to Mythos amid Anthropic dispute
They will never be able to read all the words in my head that spell out exactly what I want to have happen at that org.
Computer0··on Israel targeted Gaza children resulting in genocide, UN inquiry says
Were civilians targeted intentionally on 9/11? Or was it just a targeted assassination strike on some bankers? (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/13_July_2024_al-Mawasi_attack) If I am attacked and legally have the right to self defense, but kill the neighbors "in the process of" defending myself because I fired 300 rounds at the attacker. Is that okay? I didn't do it "intentionally". But it is convenient that I hate them.
Computer0··on Israel targeted Gaza children resulting in genocide, UN inquiry says
Those happened many lifetimes ago. Much like the slave trade we recognize these actions by our ancestors to be wrong. There are many different conversations about "Land Back" or reparations for those affected by these systems, which often lead to nowhere. The distinction is this is happening today.

Computer0··on Israel targeted Gaza children resulting in genocide, UN inquiry says
It's pretty clear Israel systematically kills Palestinian children to those paying attention. According to a public statement by the United Nations, Gaza has the highest number of child amputees per capita in the world. At least 21,289 children have been killed. They starve the population, drive them out of their homes. (https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6...) This is the modus operandi of the Zionist belief system. It is a colonial settler ideology and they have to eradicate the natives, much like American settlers killed the native people and destroyed their way of life until they could keep them in tiny """sovereign nations""" where they would be crushed if they every truly tried to display any real sense of sovereignty. To be sovereign is to have a government with a monopoly on violence, the "reservations" are occupied.
Computer0··on California police are using drones to disarm people, make arrests
"In a “nationwide first,” police officers used a drone to intercept a weapon from an armed suspect, signaling a potential shift in local law enforcement operations" If you watch the video you can see that the armed suspect appears to be passed out throughout the entire process, and their body does not even react to the knife being taken away. Surely, this was the safest way to handle the situation, but I think the headline evokes imagery that is far from the reality of the situation.

Regrettably I haven’t tried 5.2 yet but 5.1 I did not see as anything special. In practice I found it to be ~70% as good as Claude sonnet.
Computer0··on Running local models is good now
I have 16GB VRAM and 96GB Ram on all my computers and I do enjoy local models. I would not use them for coding, though I have experimented with it, it is largely a waste of time on my hardware. I love local chat with different models however, when using the model in this way it is much easier to experiment with the largest models near the limit of your hardware, and I do find it useful on the airplane somewhat. I have also used local models for data classification tasks and let it run over the weekend etc and the results were acceptable.
Computer0··on Stanford grads walk out on Google CEO Sundar Pichai speech
If the Native Americans killed black slaves in their colonial resistance would that invalidate their claim in any way. It would hardly be a footnote. The slaves/workers help effectuate the outcome of the destruction of their homeland and the success of the colonial project. Who cares.
Computer0··on Stanford grads walk out on Google CEO Sundar Pichai speech
Hamas is good. Supporting Hamas is not bad. The US military has done exponentially worse things.
