CrazyPyroLinux··on Stanford requires booster shots for all students
It's like the old joke: "They broke up over religious differences - He thought he was God, and she disagreed!"
CrazyPyroLinux··on Ask HN: Those who quit their jobs without anything planned. How did it go?
I'm looking into crowdhealth or a health share. I'm young(ish) and healthy; ymmv.
CrazyPyroLinux··on YARP – Microsoft toolkit to build fast reverse proxy servers
> for when all you have is a .NET hammer

Yep, I've been on teams where asking for approval to run your own proxy was out of the question, but "adding an extra module to the pipeline" was practically a rubber-stamp approval.

CrazyPyroLinux··on XML Alternatives (2002)
The first explanation of lisp that resonated with me was explaining it as "a better XML" https://www.defmacro.org/ramblings/lisp.html
CrazyPyroLinux··on YouTube deletes rapper's 'Let's Go Brandon' song claiming medical misinformation
I'm not your buddy, guy!
CrazyPyroLinux··on Xi Jinping’s War on Spontaneous Order
Yes, all taxation is theft, but inflation is a tax that is especially bad since it is regressive (affects the poor most), extra-judicial (no one voted to authorize it), and hidden (or at least disguised).
CrazyPyroLinux··on Many believe it's time to do away with lawmakers making stock trades
Effectively, yes - it's a combination of "regulatory capture" and "campaign contributions"
CrazyPyroLinux··on Many believe it's time to do away with lawmakers making stock trades
Instead of doing away with stock trades, the better approach would be to do away with "lawmakers."
CrazyPyroLinux··on Dog parasite is developing resistance to treatments
IANAD, but I imagine there are differing levels of quality control and differing "inactive ingredients" that may behave/metabolize differently. My doggo can't eat my grapes or onions, so I'm not going to eat his kibble or Heartguard. :)
CrazyPyroLinux··on RedBalloon – free speech job board
Although I was originally thinking those aren't great examples because of their fringe nature (vs the more common mundane stuff that people can get cancelled over), that might make them good examples. Neither (by themselves) are illegal opinions (yet), so as long as they keep it out of the workplace it should not be part of the employment decision.
CrazyPyroLinux··on RedBalloon – free speech job board
Or maybe they're strawmen!
CrazyPyroLinux··on Dog parasite is developing resistance to treatments
I can't tell if you're trolling, but better use the people version for people and the animal version for animals - don't cross the streams.
CrazyPyroLinux··on Git Commands Explained with Cats (2017)
"It's like a burrito!"
CrazyPyroLinux··on Why doesn’t natural immunity count in the US?
What certain people say is right. Are you actually taking the side of the pigs in Animal Farm?
CrazyPyroLinux··on Home Assistant – open-source home automation
SelfHosted and all the other shows at jupiterbroadcasting.com are fantastic! (Especially Coder Radio.) If anyone here somehow hasn't heard of them yet, congrats you're one of today's 10K. :)
CrazyPyroLinux··on Why doesn’t natural immunity count in the US?
Wow, we sure took a hard turn from "Heath care is a human right." Scribbled below that on the barn wall is, "...as long as you do what you're told."
CrazyPyroLinux··on Why doesn’t natural immunity count in the US?
Please report for your mandatory physical training, Comrade. We simply can't have you getting fat.
CrazyPyroLinux··on Why doesn’t natural immunity count in the US?
> We aren't in chains.

Just don't try to move too much and you won't even feel 'em.

CrazyPyroLinux··on Why doesn’t natural immunity count in the US?
> pushing natural immunity as the solution is as dumb as chicken pox parties

So, pretty smart? But I come from an era before a chicken pox vax.

CrazyPyroLinux··on Why doesn’t natural immunity count in the US?
> Not all viruses are created equal

Emphasis on created

CrazyPyroLinux··on FBI releases 9/11 investigation document that scrutinized Saudis
As Ron Paul once said (about the Federal Reserve), "If that doesn't make any sense at all to you...then you understand it just fine."
CrazyPyroLinux··on My university sacrificed ideas for ideology, so today I quit
Don't forget that there were people like Rich Salz who took their ball and ran home crying[0] because of a freaking word. Was this just a fit of temporary 2020-insanity that was going around? Nope - apparently 1 year on, it's still intolerably reeecist to have a "master key" in cryptography.[1]

CrazyPyroLinux··on Australia’s new mass surveillance mandate
The fact that they haven't strung up the puppy killers in Bourke Shire says a lot about Australia's COVID mania.
CrazyPyroLinux··on My university sacrificed ideas for ideology, so today I quit
And as Thomas Sowell said, "The problem isn't even that Johnny can't think. The problem is that Johnny doesn't know what thinking is; he confuses it with feeling."
CrazyPyroLinux··on Australia’s new mass surveillance mandate
Yeah we totlly gave up the New Deal and the military industrial complex...
CrazyPyroLinux··on Nevada cops use civil forfeiture to steal a veterans life savings
The "Don't talk to the Police" lecture should be required viewing for everyone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-7o9xYp7eE
CrazyPyroLinux··on Gab.com’s Response to Congress
"wrong place" meaning "inside the capitol at all" but certainly non-violent: https://www.indystar.com/story/news/crime/2021/06/23/capitol...
CrazyPyroLinux··on The Sackler Family Wins Immunity from Future Opioid Lawsuits
That's the punchline of "When Wokes and Racists Actually Agree on Everything" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ev373c7wSRg
CrazyPyroLinux··on Visualising Twitter Conversations in 3D Space
Reminds me of https://gource.io/ Seems like there is some untapped potential in this for a 3D code visualization system. Sort of "Gource meets CodeLens." More than just "watch this flashy movie of our code evolving" but actually being able to navigate dependencies, call graphs, etc. to gain insight on the codebase.
CrazyPyroLinux··on Mob justice is trampling democratic discourse
The individual is the most oppressed minority.
