FreshCode··on GitHub for Windows
Wow, really beautiful Metro application. Thanks GitHub!
FreshCode··on The details of how Tumblr built its data firehose
Why can't I scroll down on this post in Chrome or Firefox?
FreshCode··on Overcoming burnout
Distancing myself from my computer for at least 72 hours lowers my coder's block, but I've found that working on a personal novelty side-project works equally well. The trick is distancing yourself from your usual work, which can be hard if you have only a single workspace. Working in a different milieu, like a coffee shop, helps.

(edit: grammar, distancing trick)

FreshCode··on Online JavaScript Hacking Game. How do you Rank?
How do I get out of INSERT mode? <Esc> doesn't work and Ctrl+O opens a dialog.
FreshCode··on "Linux switch saved city millions and reduced user complaints"
It would be interesting to measure the number of complaints that were based on experimentation due to users' familiarity with Windows. Since the LiMux environment is probably more restrictive, is it possible some folks just gave up on some features, e.g. "How do I attach my Excel doc to an email?" because there is no Excel, for example. It's great that they are saving the tax-payer , though.
FreshCode··on Poll: What's Your Favorite Programming Language?
How would you access the return value object? Given obj is (int, bool), obj.Key and obj.Value? Or obj[0] and obj[1]?
FreshCode··on Apple's domains
airport.com - what a domain.
FreshCode··on Show HN: Meme generator for hipsters
I had the exact same problem. Make it editable from the get-go.
FreshCode··on Call yourself a 'brogrammer'? Then get the hell away from me.
How is it different from excluding (bro)grammers based on their unwillingness to self-identity as a nerd, despite their qualifications?
FreshCode··on Great, Another Bootstrap Site
We would both prefer to use a great product with a crappy website than a crappy product with a great website, but I think the standard has shifted from, "Do you have a website?" up to "How does your website design look compared to your competitor?"

And I think that's a good thing.

FreshCode··on Great, Another Bootstrap Site
Standards !== Aesthetics.
FreshCode··on The all-new Basecamp is live
Would it have been significantly cheaper if you purchased the basecamp.com domain earlier?
FreshCode··on Ask HN: good looking "nerdy" t-shirts?
I own this Social Engineering Specialist shirt: http://www.jinx.com/p/social_engineering_t_shirt.html
FreshCode··on Call yourself a 'brogrammer'? Then get the hell away from me.
I call Poe's Law :). I have had so much fun with the brogrammer stereotype - developer jocks do exist and are quite common. We considered changing the name of our local developer meetup group from "Nerdy Food Meetups" to something "cooler" like Hungry Hackers, but we decided against it, lest the name prove too inviting for brogrammers. So far: success. The group has been 100% self-selective for nerds.
FreshCode··on Show HN: Streak.com - Do sales, support and bug tracking all inside Gmail
What is the Streak.com stack?
FreshCode··on [dead]
They should hire him.
FreshCode··on Kill Math
Fix your scrolling; I think your message will benefit from increased usability.
FreshCode··on AWS Free Usage Tier now Includes Microsoft Windows on EC2
This is great news for .NET devs. Any good tutorials on setting up an ASP.NET MVC application to run on a free micro-instance?
FreshCode··on I am done with the freemium business model
My point is that Letters From Santa is a vitamin, not a painkiller or a cure. I think this type of business actually lends itself well to a freemium model, if the paid version is worthwhile. That being said, you stepped into a massively over-saturated gift card market.
FreshCode··on Top job boards for software devs
What about joelonsoftware.com?
FreshCode··on I am done with the freemium business model
You're not solving a real problem.
FreshCode··on US judge orders hundreds of sites "de-indexed" from Google, Facebook
Picketing around the Google search box doesn't seem like the way to fight counterfeiters, but I symphatise with Chanel on this. What would the ideal solution be?
FreshCode··on I Write Like
Even better, I Read Like: http://iwl.me/read/
FreshCode··on Malls track shopper cell phones on Black Friday. To opt out? Turn off your phone
Website analytics for malls is a good analogy. Five years from now, people will clap technology on the back for giving them more efficient store placements because of "mall analytics", but in the present, people are constantly fighting the future.

The negative reactions even remind me of The Oatmeal's comic on every time Facebook changes its layout: http://theoatmeal.com/pl/state_web_winter/facebook_layout

FreshCode··on &! (and bang), project management for teams
Looks great, but less caps.
FreshCode··on Alla Klein: a fake person in charge of customer support
We have someone like this. Her name is Christine.

:)

FreshCode··on What being hopelessly single taught me about pitching tech celebs
I wonder how many "hacker players" hang out on HN? :)
FreshCode··on What being hopelessly single taught me about pitching tech celebs
getting good at "game" has led to improvements in almost every other aspect of my life, including pitching.
FreshCode··on Things That Turbo Pascal is Smaller Than
Comparing executable byte counts with source code or English character counts is ridiculous.
FreshCode··on Git-garden - display your git branches in an orderly manner
Thanks for the screenshot.
