They did not prepare it for all platforms though. Linux is missing.
SebaSeba··on The Rooms Where It Happened
Ah, open the link and first thing I see is Finlandia Hall's main concert hall. I worked there as an event assistant and host as young student back in the day. Was very nice to listen to classical music concerts and other on the work there. Nice place, great historic atmosphere. :) No events anywhere near as important as the Helsinki Process during my days though. This was between 2005-2010.
SebaSeba··on Falsehoods Programmers Believe About Phone Numbers (2016)
Yes, it's surprising how large amount of the SMSs get lost. At least in Finland this has been the case when using the most popular international SMS API providers. I previously thought also that eventually the messages will be received but have learned otherwise after trying several providers for two different apps. And I have not even found any good explanations for the SMSs getting lost. I think this is sad from the perspective of Progressive Web Applications because often SMSs could act as an easy replacement for push notifications (which are kind of unavailable/unreliable for PWAs).

I've been involved in trying to create services and authentication for two web applications with the help of SMS API services from several of the largest international providers of such services. It has been amazing to see how large portion of the authentications SMSs and other messages do not reach the receiver at all. Some numbers don't seem to be reachable at all and some numbers can be reached most of the time, even though the numbers are totally valid mobile phone numbers. At least in Finland this is the case when using the international SMS API service providers.
SebaSeba··on Russian intelligence launches anonymous threat tipping portal in Tor
From what I've searched, e.g. from Yandex(Russian Google) SVR's (which apparently is the Russian counterpart for CIA) website seems to be http. So I would bet on this not to be a fake either. Quite funny though, if their official website is not secure.

"Those who have information about impending threats to Russia may now tip the Russian intelligence services off using the Tor browser on the darknet.

The message about the novel way to submit documents and other relevant information concerning Russian national security appeared on the website of the SVR, the Russian analog of the CIA." https://www.ewdn.com/2021/05/04/russian-intelligence-launche...

SebaSeba··on The Sámi on Camera
Interesting/fun fact: Traditionally they castrated the reindeers by chewing the testicles and this was a task especially for the women to do. There's even an old english language nature documentary clip of the whole ritual: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fftnExG-WFg
SebaSeba··on McKinsey: 77% of SME's in the EU worry they may close, if revenues worsen
McKinsey survey conducted in August (after which lockdowns have been renewed): If revenues were to remain steady, 55 percent of SMEs worry they may shut down by September 2021. If the situation were to worsen and revenues decreased by a further 10 to 30 percent, 77 percent of SMEs said they may be out of business by September 2021.
SebaSeba··on Hackers hijack and publish mental health data of hundreds of people
Some current background info: The breach and the extortion emails are at the moment on the front page of all major Finnish news publications. The Finnish government main ministers are discussing on how to handle the potential crisis, since there are possibly 40 000 patients' records leaked and some of the victims are already in a very vulnerable state and might be feeling even more desperate if their traumas will be publicly shared online. It is also known that there are minors among the victims. https://yle.fi/uutiset/osasto/news/psychotherapy_centre_reve...

SebaSeba··on CIA Labs
Yeah, I was thinking also that it could be related to some kind of "fly on the wall" symbolism. I am just wondering if it is somehow a more general level symbol in the context, not just for the CIA or in the US. Considering the CIA Labs for example, they probably do a lot more stuff than just develop dragonfly type drones, so why put the dragonfly in the logo. But maybe the "Insectothopter" project and similar ones have just been so significant projects for them in the past that they want them to be remembered.
SebaSeba··on CIA Labs
Is the dragonfly logo somehow on a more general level related to spy stuff? It is not the first time I see it in a spy context and neither this or the other time it could be easily explained just because of dragonfly drones.
SebaSeba··on Finland's new Covid app downloaded almost 1M times in one day, population 5M
Yeah, optimally the app should have been global from the first place. For example if we consider the second wave of the epidemic, which in Finland showed signs of starting (but hasn't really started) straight couple of weeks after travelling abroad opened to several countries and then when the travel restrictions were put back on etc. immediately the contaminations went down again, so they were mostly just coming with people coming from abroad. Perhaps those peoples possible contaminations would have been possible to target already way before with a global app.

SebaSeba··on New York Times phasing out all 3rd-party advertising data
Non-US citizen former NYT subscriber here as well. Unsubscribing was a terrible experience, they had made it unbelievably difficult for foreigners, never seen anything similar in any service. It's definetly a reason for me to not to subscribe again.
