Splendor··on Last Task After Layoff at Disney: Train Foreign Replacements
I was in the same position when I worked at H-P. They outsourced our team to Costa Rica and we spent our last few months training our replacements remotely. The last few weeks we just sat around, watched them work, and answered their questions.

It was a weird position to be for several reasons, but the weirdest part was getting to know lovely people who were excited about their new job in Costa Rica and feeling the perverse incentive to train them poorly so my job might last a couple more months. It's not something I ever hope to relive.

Splendor··on Senate Approves Bill to Rein in N.S.A. Surveillance
According to The Verge[0], Senator Wyden -- who I trust very much in these matters -- said the passage of this bill is "the most significant victory for Americans’ privacy rights in more than a decade." That gives me some hope that this bill represents actual change.

Splendor··on Show HN: Hacker News reader for Android
You're right. It was so long I assumed it wasn't a comment but I see the comment header now.
Splendor··on Show HN: Hacker News reader for Android
Nice work. My suggestion would be to add a screenshot of the comments.

I spend most of my time on HN reading comments so I'd like to be able to preview how your app handles them before I install the app. I'd like to be able to see at a glance whether you support expanding and collapsing nested comments, how you display the nesting, etc.

Splendor··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (June 2015)
In the future, please use "ON-SITE" instead of "No Remote".
Splendor··on NASA Telescopes Set Limits on Spacetime Quantum “Foam”
The “foaminess” of spacetime is a new concept to me. Thanks for sharing!
Splendor··on Ford follows Tesla’s lead and opens all their electric vehicle patents
It seems like Ford is interested in having others adopt their standards. I'm sure that was part of the equation for Tesla as well.
Splendor··on White House Sides with Oracle, Tells Supreme Court APIs Are Copyrightable
Probably not, but Google has already developed a different runtime. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_Runtime
Splendor··on White House Sides with Oracle, Tells Supreme Court APIs Are Copyrightable
This link should probably be changed to point directly to the Ars post: http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2015/05/white-house-sides...
Splendor··on Airing: A maskless, hoseless, cordless micro-CPAP device
I'm incredulous that this tiny device could possibly deliver on its claims and I don't see enough detail on the site to sway me otherwise.
Splendor··on Lastpass' Certificate is invalid
Which page did you get that on? The cert on https://lastpass.com/ looks valid to me.
Splendor··on [dead]
Exactly. If you want to be a privacy-focused competitor to reddit you can't count on users flocking to the service because of your ethics (unfortunately). Instead you have to focus on being the best experience for the user, and in addition be privacy-focused.

If it's harder to user your service or if it's a less satisfying experience, I'm not going to use your service.

Splendor··on Spotify Introduces Video Clips, Podcasts, and Activity-Based Playlists
I'm excited for this. Discovery is an area that can definitely stand some more work.
Splendor··on Spotify Launches Now and Running
Looks neat. I'm all for anything that helps with discovery. That seems to be one of the hardest parts of making a successful music service.
Splendor··on 4 Cancer Charities Accused in F.T.C. Fraud Case
It's a shame it took the FTC so long. There were news stories about the practices of these organizations a couple of years ago.
Splendor··on Remaking MakerBot
I'm a little confused why this 2,000-word article didn't even mention the open-source community backlash against MakerBot.
Splendor··on Wireless Das Keyboard Modification
Wow, that ball joint is pretty ingenious. Thanks for sharing.
Splendor··on Show HN: My first portfolio site - Full Stack Engineer
Wow! I think this is pretty good. Congrats.

The only suggestions I would make is to maybe just put some project/skill highlights on the front page and make the long list of projects a separate page. I also think the project list is more readable in a single column (on my monitor it broke into two columns which was a little difficult to follow).

Keep up the good work!

Splendor··on An Online Stoic Mindfulness and Resilience Training Course Starting 17th May
How often is the course? I couldn't find any information past the start date.
Splendor··on Google Moves Its Corporate Applications to the Internet
I felt like that was stated clearly in the second paragraph.

> "The new model — called the BeyondCorp initiative — assumes that the internal network is as dangerous as the Internet."

Splendor··on Google Moves Its Corporate Applications to the Internet
I'm not a security expert by any means, but this seems like an intelligent move to me. And it sounds like this process of accessing corporate applications has the potential to be less onerous for employees.
Splendor··on Bundle Club – Curated essentials for your baby delivered monthly
Pricing would be helpful.
Splendor··on The CHIP Is a $9 Computer That Can Almost Do It All
Agreed. I would be very interested in something like an updated version of the Peek device.

Splendor··on Show HN: Sssaving – Are you gaining or losing money each month?
I like this idea and I was able to successfully sign up and link my bank account.

My only suggestion would be to give me a better idea of what to expect when I receive my first email. Right now all I know is that I'm going to get an email in X days and that email will tell me something about how well or poorly I'm doing.

I like the site design too. Nice job.

Splendor··on Facebook PathPicker
This looks very useful. Thanks for sharing it.
Splendor··on CapitalOne has the most secure password system
I think it's important to call attention to these issues, but can we change the sarcastic title?
Splendor··on EveryoneAPI – Convert Phone Numbers Into Business Intelligence
Same here. I tried Firefox & Chrome on Windows 7 with no luck.
Splendor··on Comcast Cuts the Cord on Deal with Time Warner Cable
> Of course, we would have liked to bring our great products to new cities

Too bad they can't/won't just enter those cities and compete anyway.

Splendor··on Automate the Boring Stuff with Python
I'm not sure where you're seeing that. I see an option to buy the e-book only for $23.95 and the page has red text that reads "Full PDF, ePub, and mobi ebooks now available!". Am I missing something you see on the page?
