The heading of this HN submission is "Yet Another Distributed Scalable Key/Value? (answer: no way!)"
The schizophrenia continues on the home page. "Does the world really need another NoSQL database?"
This deliberate confusion is beyond idiotic.
Actually, someone posted the link to the Anapanasati Sutta in a recent HN thread on meditation (thank to that person!), and you can just read it and figure out what to do yourself. I would like to think that the Buddha would prefer that you behave like a scientist, which is the path he took towards understanding the mind + life/death. "Buddhism" is an ism, and quite different from being a Buddha.

Successful for it's founders, yes. But for me, the reader, I'm quite happy to have only the few thousand most-active researchers and professors and their students of Machine Learning, NLP, etc; post on metaoptimize.com. Otherwise, I might as well go to Yahoo Answers for generic, watered-down responses.
One example is when the description is vague or cannot be the same for everyone. An example that comes to mind is 45-degree angles on charts ("Gann angles"? Not sure what they are called), which are extremely sensitive to changes in the scale of the Y-axis!
Another is the use of the word "stochastics" for a TA indicator that has nothing to do with what the word "stochastic" means in established research. (Also found someone using "Gaussian" recently to lend an air of sophistication to his idea, which has nothing to do with Gaussian distributions as understood by anyone else!). But heck, at least stochastics are expressed using an objective formula.
The problem is that most Technical Analysis is somewhere in between voodoo and immature quantitative analysis. Thus, the real practical use of the package (for me) is in visualizing non-TA stuff.
This is good enough to keep our privacy for now.
Many people in office jobs are like this. Brute force search till you find helpful and intelligent people who are not insecure and might actually be fun. You never need to turn to the jerks after that!
Events include {Started Acupuncture, Started using ergonomic product A, EtherPad acquired}, etc;
I wish to exclude these 2 possible reasons for the cure:
a) a simple reduction in the number of hours on the keyboard b) the acquisition of your start-up, which may have released a lot of mental stress
Personally, reading this article makes me glad I never opened a FaceBook account. I wish gmail was not so all-knowing either; I hate seeing very personally directed ads (anti-depressants when I am sad after reading a break-up mail, for example). Just too creepy.
My take on it : The level of chaos in India is extraordinary. It is ubiquitous: the traffic, the government, and the sheer number of people being the top three things that come to mind. On top of this, the justice system is defunct. In such a situation, prayer comes naturally. Faith and arbitrary belief are mechanisms to alleviate the stress and restore mental order, to lend a semblance of "reason" and rhyme to the working of a world that seems so arbitrary and cruel. They dull the mind but they act as an antidote against the external chaos.
I would guess that a sense of security and control over one's life and religiosity are anti-correlated, in any country. I would suspect that the poor, the indebted and the very ill are more likely to be religious.
You don't get it. You are treating the original article like a Bible. In my opinion, the original article is the one which did the blatantly unfair editing; it bended over backwards to make the man look good by sandwiching the sexism carefully between the praises.
What I did could be constituted as wrong only if I was quoting Feynman and then cut off the last part, for example.
Bill Clinton was not even being sexist and he got tasered big time. I'm not sure why Feynman should get a pass.
"The charming side of Richard helped people forgive him for his uncharming characteristics. For example, in many ways Richard was a sexist. Whenever it came time for his daily bowl of soup he would look around for the nearest "girl" and ask if she would fetch it to him. It did not matter if she was the cook, an engineer, or the president of the company. I once asked a female engineer who had just been a victim of this if it bothered her. "Yes, it really annoys me," she said."
Does anyone else think mind mapping is more hype than substance? It seems to be an incredible waste of space, for starters, which itself is a put-off for me.
I'm in Asia and 8 hours is a fantasy, by the way. 10 hours to 12 hours is the new 8 hours here. HR folks' jaw drops when you talk about part-time, by the way.
What I meant is : it's a smart move to realize that it's a dead end and go West if one seeks to broaden one's opportunities, chances to do some good work and realize one's potential, that's all.
