anonfunction··on Why does organic milk last so much longer than regular milk? (2008)
I've noticed UHT milk has an unpleasant smell after a few days.
anonfunction··on Show HN: Notedown – a beautiful, offline markdown editor for the web
Looks cool, but links are not clickable.
anonfunction··on Show HN: DevUtils.app – Developer Utilities for macOS
It looks very nice! I wonder if you could make more from a pay what you wish pricing, I don't have access to build and also don't like to pay for something without trying it. I would be happy to try it out first and buy it if there are no bugs or "coming soon" type features I see a lot in software.

anonfunction··on Show HN: Building Pastebin for text using Nginx and Lua
Ah my bad, I thought you were the author of the Pastebin this thread is about.
anonfunction··on Show HN: Building Pastebin for text using Nginx and Lua
What mechanism actually removes the content? I didn't see that in the lua or repo.

anonfunction··on Cloudflare launches Workers Unbound, next evolution of its serverless platform
We're using GPUs already on AWS for inference. The big problem is we have a worker pool of GPU servers and a task queue, leading to some latency if we don't have enough servers running and by the time the EC2 auto scaling group adds one the queue could be drained. Also we are seeing extra latency from requests originating from Asia since we currently have our servers located in a US region.

So basically all the classic benefits of serverless and edge computing would apply, the difference being we would need some more drivers, python libraries and a GPU attached.

anonfunction··on Cloudflare launches Workers Unbound, next evolution of its serverless platform
Any plans to offer GPUs for Workers?
anonfunction··on Go command support for embedded static assets (files)
When I see all the CLI tools that require NPM / PIP to install hundreds of dependencies I am quite amazed when one requires a single binary. I'm not saying it's a unique feature with Go but that it is nonetheless a feature.
anonfunction··on Go command support for embedded static assets (files)
I disagree, one amazing aspect of Go is the static binary that can easily be distributed. I embed templates and other text files in my binaries and it makes the installation so simple and without extra dependencies or steps. Even though I'm a huge proponent of containers I don't think it is needed for things like CLI tools.
anonfunction··on UFO VPN claims zero-logs policy, leaks 20M user logs
Yeah I tried AWS and Digital Ocean and they were blocked by Netflix which is really what I care about. A commercial VPN I use actually works for Netflix but only in 2 specific regions.
anonfunction··on UFO VPN claims zero-logs policy, leaks 20M user logs
I’ve tried that but all the content providers seemed to know I was using a VPN. Any tips?
anonfunction··on Ask HN: Thoughts on new GitHub layout?
I felt the same, and even made the same image with vertical lines in my feedback to GitHub while the change was still in the preview stage.

I installed a custom css user style extension just to fix it. Here's a link to my comment with example before and after along with the CSS needed for chrome or firefox: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=23624292

anonfunction··on Ask HN: Thoughts on new GitHub layout?
I don't mind the aesthetic design changes but the layout drives me crazy. I count 4 separate alignments in the new repo page on my 15" macbook's full width browser window!

I found and modified a Firefox user style to fix the alignment for wide windows.

Original mozilla userstyle: https://gist.github.com/healingbrew/acc65ad439379eabdbb276e8...

Modified stylish chrome extenstion userstyle: https://gist.github.com/montanaflynn/ca64cc0fcf55bcd4556a016...

I use this regex so it doesn't apply on the full width logged in homepage or /notifications:

    https:\/\/github\.com/(?!notifications)(.+)

anonfunction··on Launch HN: Paragon (YC W20) – Visually Build API Workflows

Does this mean they wouldn't want to disclose it if the same exploit was used against users by another hacker?

anonfunction··on GitHub's new notifications: a case of regressive design
I agree and sent my own feedback, where before I had one button to click "Mark all as read" but now it's three clicks and hidden, I actually didn't know it was possible until just now when I tried it out again.

Also what does "done" even mean? If I'm mentioned in an issue but it's not closed should I mark it done?

I'm surprised to see Nvidia hosting[1] the pre-trained networks on google drive which has already been blocked for going over the quota:
