appsDev··on Ask HN: Is it possible to ditch Google Play as a solo mobile app dev?
They are pulling it off of the billing address you give in your payment profile.. so I think it has to be real..
appsDev··on Ask HN: Is it possible to ditch Google Play as a solo mobile app dev?
Really? Online it said just paid but thats not good if its for free too.. Ya it isn't really completely hidden it just feels weird giving it out so openly to everyone. :/
appsDev··on Ask HN: Is it possible to ditch Google Play as a solo mobile app dev?
Exactly, thats the main issue
appsDev··on Ask HN: Is it possible to ditch Google Play as a solo mobile app dev?
Yes eventually I want to register as a company, but I am a little too early for that and Google is not allowing us to use a PO Box which is the main issue.. :/
appsDev··on Ask HN: What's your Mac OS App side project?
I made a paid MacOS app called RestEyes. It helps users follow the 20-20-20 rule to help reduce eye strain when working on a screen for long hours, and provides a gentle reminder to look away instead of blocking the whole screen.

I have reached the top 10 in paid health and fitness apps a couple times. Revenue is probably in the low hundreds of dollars for lifetime, and the first year it was out it made very little. Second year it started getting some traction. (apple also takes 100 bucks a year to post an app, so first year basically lost money)

It's hard since I don't really use paid advertising. I made it in SwiftUI and used a channel called SwiftfulThinking to learn how to code it, besides that just other yt tutorials as needed :)

I think it is possible for sure to build a business around a MacOS app. It just has to be unique enough for people to want to pay for it, and you have to know how to get it out there (marketing). Kinda like the iOS marketplace, just smaller, but thats not really an issue if you're solving a relevant problem for Mac users. Lmk if u have other questions!

Will look into that for sure! Yes the timing is the challenging part of the app :) Glad you like it overall!
appsDev··on I made a game you can play without anyone knowing (no visuals/sound)
Thats great to know, will look into it - thx!

I agree, that is definitely an issue I need to address soon. Thanks for bringing it up!

Thats a good point! I only added a lock on the button that says "Click Me" and not the others - something I can tweak in an update :)

I am really happy you like the app!! The only issue with tapping on the outside of the phone would be how the phone could detect it (not sure if the gyroscope or something could be accurate enough). Someone had suggested volume buttons so maybe that is an option to explore.

Thank you for your feedback though and for sharing it! I appreciate it! :)

I realize the issue of search with the name, will try to fix this.

There is a haptic with success or failure, its just that if someone "fails" then it replays the sequence so they learn where they messed up.

Thank you!

I literally did not realize that until I read this - sorry about that :/ - I meant to add it but forgot last minute!

Thank you! :)

Oh allow me to clarify. When you make a mistake, it plays an error haptic, and then repeats the sequence. As soon as you feel the error, there is no use in continuing to tap on the screen, because the entire sequence must be correct in order to move on. Therefore as soon as you feel the error haptic, you can stop tapping, and then focus on the sequence being played again to hopefully see why your timing was off.

I hope this helps! Once again visiting the help screen (?) at the top right when you launch the app after closing it from the background will give a in depth tutorial. Happy playing!!

This is not something I have thought of before but is a great idea! Having levels would be great for something more structured like this. Thanks for the idea!

Thanks for posting this - I understand everything you're saying as well and will definitely balance all the feedback I am getting when making changes in a future update. I want to preserve the aspect of the game where it takes a couple tries to get past a sequence, but not too many to the point that it is irritating.

Triggering the menu by accident is a valid concern as well.

I will try and think of creative ways to balance all of this and make the end experiance even better. I appreciate your feedback!

Will look into it - and the overall grammar as a whole. Thanks!

No problem! Enjoy!

I guess maybe not.. I think I understood the core of what you were trying to say though and I get where your coming from..
appsDev··on I made a game you can play without anyone knowing (no visuals/sound)
I exactly understand what you mean. Thanks for your interest and I hope you enjoy playing!!

Oh I didn't know that; thanks for the info. If I launch on Android will try to market the app to get the word out some other way!
appsDev··on I made a game you can play without anyone knowing (no visuals/sound)
The app is free with promo code, otherwise it costs 95 cents by default. :) If you want one here it is: PR3XEE3EMLP3 (To redeem, click on your profile icon, go to “Redeem Gift Card or Code” and enter the code. Each promo code is one time use only, so to anyone else reading this please ask for one in a new comment if you would like one!)

True

I agree thinking can be a nice distraction sometimes, even to the point that we lose all focus on what's happening in front of us. Depends on everyone's preference what they wish to use..:)

I agree if someone has a condition then that is different. I think the original comment was talking in reference to doomscrolling and people using their phones all the time when they don't need to, etc..

I have seen this tool before, definitely a great pick! I tried to make Tik! less stimulating than traditional social media, but of course physical objects are even more disconnected and have their own charm as well :)
appsDev··on I made a game you can play without anyone knowing (no visuals/sound)
That is a great idea - sometimes doodling can seriously help! Thx for the comment :)
appsDev··on I made a game you can play without anyone knowing (no visuals/sound)
I have tried that before too lol. Works fine if thats your best option sometimes!
appsDev··on I made a game you can play without anyone knowing (no visuals/sound)
Thx, yes I just wanted to say that I understood the original comment's pov, nothing else..
appsDev··on I made a game you can play without anyone knowing (no visuals/sound)
Thx, yes I was just responding in context to the original comment
appsDev··on I made a game you can play without anyone knowing (no visuals/sound)
I didn't mean it like that. I was just responding in context to the original comment, which was about how people nowadays tend to distract themselves aimlessly all the time and stimulate their brain instead of taking time to let their brain be free.

It is not immoral in the slightest for anyone, and especially if you have ADHD. In fact if this is something someone could use to help with their ADHD that would be incredible. I was just saying that I get where the original comment is coming from as well.

Hope this clears things up!
