asdev··on Is the golden age of Indie software over?
This is classic engineer trying to build a business. Indie software is more of a business than it is software. Everyone wants to do the easy part(coding/tech), nobody wants to relentlessly service customers and do marketing/distribution.

Coding is easy. Building a business is hard, whether indie or VC backed.

asdev··on Logging sucks
this is the best lead generation form i've ever seen
asdev··on Ask HN: How are you LLM-coding in an established code base?
how many changes(% of all changes) need an entire infra stack spun up? have you tried just having the changes deployed to dev with a locking mechanism?
asdev··on Graphite is joining Cursor
Does anyone get actual insightful reviews from these code review tools? From most people I've spoke with, it catches things like code complexity, linting, etc but nothing that actual relates to business logic because there's no way it could know about the business logic of the product
asdev··on Ask HN: Is anyone using LLM based document processing in production?
How do you remediate failures?
asdev··on Ask HN: Is anyone using LLM based document processing in production?
in what context?

How is this different from Extend(Also YC)?

Are you still doing healthcare back office automation? Would love to learn why you pivoted out if not, happy to DM as well
asdev··on Launch HN: Onyx (YC W24) – Open-source chat UI
Aren't most of the large frontier model providers SOC 2 compliant? I think AWS Bedrock is also SOC 2 compliant. Not sure why you would need to self host anything then as you'll get turnkey secure solutions from the bigger plays
asdev··on A desktop app for isolated, parallel agentic development
Made the same except you get terminal sessions instead of overriding it with a custom UI: https://github.com/built-by-as/FleetCode
asdev··on Structured outputs on the Claude Developer Platform
it's also really slow to use structured outputs. mainly makes sense for offline use cases

asdev··on Codemaps: Understand Code, Before You Vibe It
agree that AI can kinda infer business context sometimes. in my experience, it doesn't work that well.

a lot of the time, debugging isn't a logic issue, but more of a state exploration issue. hence you need to add logging to see the inputs of what's going on, just seeing a control flow isn't super useful. maybe codemaps could simulate some inputs in a flow which would be super cool, but probably quite hard to do.

asdev··on Codemaps: Understand Code, Before You Vibe It
if you know that context, you don't need a codemap
asdev··on Codemaps: Understand Code, Before You Vibe It
A feature like this isn't useful because knowing what connects to what, dependencies, etc. means nothing without business context. AI will never know the why behind the architecture, it will only take it at face value. I think technical design docs which have some context and reading the code is more than enough. This sits in the middle ground where it lacks the context of a doc and is less detailed than the code.
asdev··on Composer: Building a fast frontier model with RL
I built an open source project to make the whole workflow easier: https://github.com/built-by-as/FleetCode
asdev··on Composer: Building a fast frontier model with RL
you can use git worktrees and just have multiple Claude Code terminal instances working on each worktree. That way they don't clash, just delete the worktree when the task is done.

is Cursor Bench open? Would like to see an open benchmark for agentic coding
asdev··on I've been loving Claude Code on the web
I built a version of this which wraps multiple CLI sessions locally. I do think the Web aspect and being able to access your CC session from anywhere is cool.

asdev··on Claude for Excel
yeah but if Anthropic/OpenAI dedicate resources to gaining domain expertise then any tier 5 is dead in the water. For example, they recently hired a bunch of finance professionals to make specialized models for financial modeling. Any startup in that space will be wiped out
asdev··on Claude for Excel
George Hotz said there's 5 tiers of AI systems, Tier 1 - Data centers, Tier 2 - fabs, Tier 3 - chip makers, Tier 4 - frontier labs, Tier 5 - Model wrappers. He said Tier 4 is going to eat all the value of Tier 5, and that Tier 5 is worthless. It's looking like that's going to be the case

AI startups are becoming obsolete daily
asdev··on Meta is axing 600 roles across its AI division
they've lost on basically all fronts of AI right?
asdev··on Claude Code on the web
so the biggest issue is having to pull down and manually edit changes? can't you just @claude on the PR to make any changes?
asdev··on Claude Code on the web
are you using the web ui, cli or both?
asdev··on Claude Code on the web
do you use the CLI or the web UI? or both?
asdev··on Andrej Karpathy – It will take a decade to work through the issues with agents
Are researchers scared to just come out and say it because they'll be labeled as wrong if the extreme tail case happens?
asdev··on Claude Skills
I wonder what the accuracy is for Claude to always follow a Skill accurately. I've had trouble getting LLMs to follow specific workflows 100% consistently without skipping or missing steps.
asdev··on Things I've learned in my 7 years implementing AI
You can't rely on them directly for business value, but you can rely on them indirectly is the summary of this post
