barcoder··on Real-time cinematic graphics
The demo is made in:

barcoder··on Show HN: Make a programmable mirror
Here's a face tracking version I made a couple of years back: https://vimeo.com/13156714

It just uses a webcam and detects faces with (the now obsolete) Haarcascading face algorithm.

barcoder··on The Next Generation of Gesture Control
Agree with this, the MYO will find it's best use in combination with other types of interactive hardware.
barcoder··on Sugar, acid and teeth (2009)
"To mitigate the effects of pop consumption, only consume it with meals. Brush soon after eating or drinking anything besides water (including milk or juices)."

Brushing soon after drinking or eating something sugary is not a good idea. Best to wait around 30 minutes and let your body clean your teeth during that time, after the 30 minutes manually clean!

barcoder··on Other people's data
Good to read a blog post like this after seeing IceBoxPro's attempt at security.
barcoder··on Show HN: Archive and backup your files directly from your Dropbox
Do you plan to release a version that doesn't need a dropbox account?
barcoder··on Arduino-based ArduSat will run your code in space
Your post sums up my fillings _unfortunately_. It's a beautiful dream and I'm glad to see people are willing to back such a project given the high chance of no return.
barcoder··on GMail: designer arrogance and the cult of minimalism
What I hate most is that when typing an email it is contained in a fixed size box. I can't fill my screen with my email, I have to scroll inside the box to move up and down.
barcoder··on Automatically calibrating a computer projector image

barcoder··on Mercedes uses LEDs and a Camera to make "invisible car" for marketing
This is nice, but it looks as the team making the video hasn't used "real" footage, instead adding a layer of video of over the LEDs to make the image cleaner. Some of the shots clearly show the LEDs though.
barcoder··on The Making of Arduino
If you get a chance to do a workshop with Massimo, go for it! The guy is an absolute legend and you'll come away from the workshop brimming with ideas for hacking projects.

barcoder··on MPs want UK jail time for hacker
That's the first I'd heard of any UK politicians trying to help Gary McKinnon. The whole situation is an absolute farce.. What Gary really needs is support on the US side, if anyone reading this would like to get involved please message me and I will help give you information from his family with how you can help. Cheers.
barcoder··on Kids losing touch with natural world -- can't identify common animals...
There is a website that you can post photos of something and ask what it is though.. Sadly I can't remember the address!
barcoder··on Ask YC: What logo do you prefer
The best part about the logo is the lined L's and I (representing volume/frequency?), why not carry that on through the rest of the letters?

The shadow doesn't help.. Try and keep it simple.

barcoder··on U.S. to shoot down errant satellite
A couple of days ago I heard an expert on satellites say that a lot of them come down and never even touch the Earth. I started wondering what all the fuss about the American spy satellite was all about. It's clear now, they spread the fear to make it ok for them shoot it out of the sky, even after all the fuss around China's testing last year.

Militarization of space has already begun, welcome to the next phase.

barcoder··on $2500 Tata Nano Car Unveiled in India
As great as it is to make an affordable car that almost anyone can own.. This is going to create havoc for oil prices and the environment. Who's going to be riding their bike now they can zoom about in their car?
