binarray2000··on Why Germany Still Has So Many Middle-Class Manufacturing Jobs
To add to less talked about downsides of the "German boom": Wage suppression has caused the fact that Germany has the largest low-wage sector in Europe.

An article in English:

http://www.nachdenkseiten.de/?p=18499

> The share of low-wage workers (less than 2/3 of the median hourly wage) rose from 17.7% in 1995 to 23.1% of all workers in 2010. The number of low-wage workers increased from 5.6 million in 1995 to 7.9 million in 2010.

The US oligarchy doesn't care about lead levels in tap water in cities across the US, so they care even less for citizens of Afghanistan (or Iraq, or Syria, or Bosnia, or Serbia) exposed to chemicals. Not to mention, to depleated uranium.

binarray2000··on Thousands of deadly U.S. military airstrikes have gone unreported
YES! But this bears question, why is that so?

Why is the US empire (and the US oligarchy) so thirsty for war that it is willing (one could even argue: eager) to sacrifice lives, physical and psychical health of its people (soldiers)? Why is it not putting trillions into infrastructure, health, education instead of spending them to wage wars with nations which have not even thought to attack the US, let alone have done it? (And most of which don't have the resources to do it!)

Well, yes, it is about oil:

Syria: Another Pipeline War http://www.ecowatch.com/syria-another-pipeline-war-188218053...

But the issue is much deeper. So deep indeed, that I'll (again!) quote a man who knew what he talked about, George F. Kennan: "Were the Soviet Union to sink tomorrow under the waters of the ocean, the American military-industrial establishment would have to go on, substantially unchanged, until some other adversary could be invented. Anything else would be an unacceptable shock to the American economy." (https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/George_F._Kennan)

So, it is not only the oil (or any other resource to be taken from others). And is is not only about money to be made from bombs (and private contractors who fight, spy, prepare meals for soldiers, wash their uniforms, repair their trucks, build military installations etc.).

It is the US economy at stake.

And that's why you need the POTUS, the Senate, the Congress, intelligence agencies, millitary-intelligence-indutrial complex, the media - to all pull on the same string. And to "invent" enemies: Russia, China, Vietnam, Serbia, North Korea, Cuba, Iran, Syria... or "the Muslims".

But the truth is hidden by the fourth estate from the US citizen with slogans such as "we bring democracy, human rights and freedom to the world", or with self-aggrandizing "American exceptionalism" (cringe!).

I just saw your comment. While I don't know if you'll see it/respond to it, here is my response:

(1) Yes, the first color revolution was in 2000 in Serbia. And that sentence should have started with "Since" instead of "In". But the three things I've listed in it are undisputed.

(2) Since the NATO was founded, the Commander is always an US General. Who is, while being the NATO Commander, still on the Pentagon payroll. And those on Pentagon payroll are under the command of the US President. No other President/Prime Minister of a NATO member state has that power. Next, look at the NATO troop concentration on the Russian border. It is undisputed that NATO is expanding towards Russia. It is undisputed that continental European countries have interest in dialog and cooperation with Russia. But they must follow the US oligarchy.

(3) Your last paragraph brings out the suspicion that you swallow the interpretation of widely known history others have chewed for you. You seem to devalue everything that doesn't fit the official narrative. And you get personal. But, no offense taken: Been there, done that. Since 2003 I have started looking at historical facts and interpreting them while asking myself "Cui bono" (Who benefits). And then patterns started to emerge. Patterns of Anglo-american hegemony in the last 150 years. Later I've found the works of Carroll Quigley and Anthony Sutton (to name two greats) who have confirmed what I've interpreted while expanding my knowledge in other areas. Also, reading Zbigniew Brzezinski helped. By the way, it is he who speaks of US vassals. But if you really want to learn lesser known historical facts then, probably, the best place to start is Brzezinski's inspiration: Halford Mackinder and his Heartland Theory (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Geographical_Pivot_of_Hist...)

To end this post, I'll quote a man who knew what he talked about, George F. Kennan: "Were the Soviet Union to sink tomorrow under the waters of the ocean, the American military-industrial establishment would have to go on, substantially unchanged, until some other adversary could be invented. Anything else would be an unacceptable shock to the American economy." (https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/George_F._Kennan)

binarray2000··on Germany planning to ‘massively′ limit privacy rights
What do you think, why is that so?

- Why have social-democrats dismantled the social state?

- Why have center-right let over 1.5 million refugees in?

- Why does the Green party go to war?

- Why does the German political establishment pretend to listen with AfD breathing down their necks?

- Why don't they care about the voice of the people even thou they talk about "the people being querulous of democracy" (Demokratieverdrossenheit) in numerous political talk shows for the last twenty years?

- What's next after limiting privacy rights?

- Does all this happen just by chance?

binarray2000··on Germany planning to ‘massively′ limit privacy rights
> If there's a country where people would be genuinely putting up barricades over privacy issues, that's Germany.

Really, why would you think that?

Because of Stasi? That was quarter a century ago. Almost forgotten. Ask representative sample of Germans what was Stasi and, I strongly assume, most wouldn't know anything about it. Especially the younger generation. Sadly.

Or because of Nazi time? Despite Hitler (and Hitler-related) documentaries being constantly shown in German TV, most Germans are still not aware of the methods being used by the Nazis to keep Germans under surveillance during that time. Sadly.

And, if lots of people do go out and do demonstrate/voice their discontent?

In October 2015 250,000 people demonstrated in Berlin against TTIP (for US friends: EU-USA TPP) [1] and what did "das Merkel" do? Nothing, it's TTIP full steam ahead!

Then 1.6 million Germans (together with 3.3 million EU citizens in total) signed a petition against TTIP. Government spokeperson: "Merkel will not receive a petition". [2]

Recently, "over 300,000" people have demonstrated against TTIP and CETA (for US friends: EU-Canada TPP) and what was the reaction of the Government? "It's their right to demonstrate". [3]

Has anything changed in the policy of the German government after all these democratic means? I think you can answer this question yourself.

This system we live in doesn't work. It probably never did, but we didn't notice it.

binarray2000··on China About to Start $35B of Silk Road Plan in Pakistan
NO! I am NOT talking here (and elsewhere) about US citizens!

I am talking about US oligarchy.

US people (on a personal level) are just like other people of the world: Most of them are good, some less that. And they themselves suffer from many problems the US oligarchy (through imperial means) causes outside of the US.

Daughters and sons who go to US military, they are patriots who want to serve their country and its people. But then they are sent to wars for resources, pipeline routes, geostrategic interests. And they come back in body bags, maimed, or suffer some physical or psychical ailment. Only to find out that their father has lost his job, or that their mother's insurance won't cover the costs for her treatment, or that no one cares for her/him (the former soldier).

Where ever I go in the world, I remind people that we all are in the same boat.

binarray2000··on China About to Start $35B of Silk Road Plan in Pakistan
With great power comes great responsibility. Currently, no other country has that much power (things I mentioned in the parent) and does so much harm. Yes, regionally, there are conflicts and hatred/dislike between groups, regions or countries. Yet, US is feared, disliked, even hated - exactly for the misuse of the power.
binarray2000··on China About to Start $35B of Silk Road Plan in Pakistan
While your analysis is true, it only describes the effects which have lead to today's situation.

Here are a few causes:

* In late 80's US empire has definitely thrown international law above the board by organizing color revolutions, destabilizing other countries and waging wars

* US empire and its vassals (other NATO members) leave a trail of blood where ever they show up

* Officially, US military - despite its huge budget, infrastructure and human power - still has not (15 years later!) defeated "the terrorists"

* US empire has definitely destroyed its financial reputation in 1971 by unilaterally canceling the "gold standard" and, since then, the masks are off and US dollar is being printed/created in the computer at the speed of light, without anything but military might to back it

* World Bank and IMF - two institutions majorly influenced by the US - wreak havoc in South America, Africa, South Asia and South Europe

* Russia is getting back on feet after 2000 and US empire has no means to counter it

* US empire and its media have done something remarkable in the 26 years since the fall of the Berlin wall: In 1990 USA was a country with a great image, in 2016 USA is arguably the most hated country in the world

The world outside of the empire sees all this. And runs away from the bully who has ("long before Trump") made himself weaker by seeking refuge in those who show at least some respect.

There is a HUGE difference between the two.

> Binney was a Russia specialist and worked in the operations side of intelligence, starting as an analyst and ending as a Technical Director prior to becoming a geopolitical world Technical Director. In the 1990s, he co-founded a unit on automating signals intelligence with NSA research chief Dr. John Taggart. Binney's NSA career culminated as Technical Leader for intelligence in 2001. Having expertise in intelligence analysis, traffic analysis, systems analysis, knowledge management, and mathematics (including set theory, number theory, and probability), Binney has been described as one of the best analysts in the NSA's history.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Binney_(U.S._intellige...

William Binney is a heavyweight (NSA Technical Director), an insider, Russia expert (especially regarding SIGINT).

I don't see that Thomas Rid has done anything but teaching and writing while working for various USG affiliated think thanks. While that might be admirable in itself, what credibility does he have regarding the expertise or the inner workings of US or Russian intelligence? I don't see much, even when not compared to Binney.

Another difference: By working for USG affiliated think thanks (RAND Corporation, SWP), Rid is just another exceptionally well paid [1] alibi provider for the imperial politics the US oligarchy leads. And that makes him very biased, which in turn makes his writing very biased. So biased in fact, that it insults my intelligence. How are the Esquire editors so stupid not to think that I will take Rid's name, Google it and find out (in less than five minutes!) that he's a shill?

[1] Normal professors cannot afford to live "in the Barbican in the City of London". And he even has chuzpe to brag about it!

binarray2000··on A Russian Expat Leading the Fight to Protect America
Great question with a great phrase "lower quality propaganda" (can I steal it?).

I am well aware that I am manipulated, as is everybody else. By every medium. Be it a small blog, be it commercially owned medium, be it state owned medium. And I try to consume a wide range of them to get a better picture.

Here is my list of worst to best in "propaganda quality":

- US corporate media just insults my intelligence. I consume it but it's unbearable. Its manipulation tactics are so obvious, so inelegant, so clumsy. US empire and its media has done something remarkable in the 26 years since the fall of the Berlin wall: In 1990 USA was a country with a great image, in 2016 USA is arguably the most hated country in the world.

- BBC does it MUUUUCH better. You can see that the Brits still know how to be an empire. Smaller, but an empire nonetheless. They have learned their lesson and now they don't let their hubris take over. That's why BBC is much more bearable because they are subtle in the way they manipulate.

- Russia Today, state owned (just like the BBC!) does it best! Look at its name: Russia Today. You'd think that you'll learn something about Russia today by consuming it. Well, you kind of do, but they show you only the good stuff. They don't lie (like their US or, subtler, British colleagues). No, they left out news that make them look bad but they (almost) don't lie. And, regarding the world (especially US, UK, Europe, wars NATO as alliance and member states are involved in) they are very close to the core truth. Big plus, they (often) invite people who have opposite opinion. Bottom line, they don't insult my intelligence by manipulating me.

binarray2000··on A Russian Expat Leading the Fight to Protect America
Oh man, you just keep on giving. Thank you! Your input keeps my juices flowing. :-)

Thomas Rid has worked for "Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik, a Berlin think tank".

https://ridt.co/about/

And do you know who SWP has worked for? U.S. State Department:

> The Cablegate leak produced evidence that leading representatives of the SWP (Volker Perthes, its head, and Walter Posch, an expert on Iran) had advised the U.S. State Department to proceed against Iran with a "policy of covert sabotage (unexplained explosions, accidents, computer hacking etc)".

binarray2000··on CIA Prepping for Possible Cyber Strike Against Russia
US MSM and HRC talk about Russia being responsible for cyber attacks. Yet, not a shred of proof is presented to the US and world public.

In 2003 US has started another war based on a lie. The "enemy" was weak and had inferior military, yet the war caused deaths of US soldiers and Iraqis, destruction of Iraq and we now have IS(IS).

And again we, it seems, have a lie. But now the "enemy" isn't inferior. The chaos US has caused in Iraq will look like a three-year-old-birthday-party compared with the war with Russia.

Are we willing to go that far? Have we learned anything from the recent past? Do we really want to destroy the World based on a lie?

binarray2000··on CIA Prepping for Possible Cyber Strike Against Russia
> And USA always needed a big bad enemy for fear mongering

Not only for fearmongering. From the pen of a "conspiracy theorist" George F. Kennan, former US ambassador to Moscow and distinguished Council on Foreign Relations member:

"Were the Soviet Union to sink tomorrow under the waters of the ocean, the American military-industrial establishment would have to go on, substantially unchanged, until some other adversary could be invented. Anything else would be an unacceptable shock to the American economy."

binarray2000··on How the CIA Watched Over the Destruction of Gary Webb (2014)
If you look in the history you'll see that drug trade was always controlled by an empire. British have imported opium into China via Hong Kong. French have joined them in the Second Opium War. And, now the US empire controlls both the major opium producer (Afghanistan) and major opium derivates distributor (Kosovo), using it - as the two, now small, empires I just named - to finance wars and for the benefits of the Oligarchy.
