bufferoverflow··on Builder.ai Collapses: $1.5B 'AI' Startup Exposed as 'Indians'?
Who cares what Elon says? You can literally try the product and decide. Or you can watch any of hundreds of videos on YouTube or people trying it.
bufferoverflow··on How Ukraine’s killer drones are beating Russian jamming
Doesn't work on fiberoptic drones. Doesn't work on drones that use laser/optical comms.

How are they grifters? Tesla gave us FSD to try for free for a month, twice now. If you don't like its performance, don't pay.
bufferoverflow··on Ukraine destroys more than 40 military aircraft in drone attack deep in Russia
Even if you know the location of every single one, you can't easily destroy them. They all have very heavy armored covers. They are probably all guarded by the military.

And there worst part of the triad, ICBMs, can't really be taken out easily by any method I can imagine. And they are nearly impossible to intercept, even by the US.
bufferoverflow··on Cloudlflare builds OAuth with Claude and publishes all the prompts
> I find LLMs extremely useful and still believe they are glorified Markov generators.

Then you should be able to make a markov chain generator without deep neural nets, and it should be on the same level of performance as current LLMs.

But we both know you can't.

bufferoverflow··on UK's Vertical VX4 eVTOL flies outside Kemble circuit for first time
> It's the first time ever in European aviation history that an electric VTOL aircraft has taken off non-vertically.

For the first time in history a new revolutionary fusion power plant was demonstrated to run on coal.

bufferoverflow··on AI video you can watch and interact with, in real-time
Same. Got to the corner of the house, turned around, and got teleported back to the starting point.

I call BS.

bufferoverflow··on CheerpJ 4.1: Java in the browser, now supporting Java 17 (preview)
Works on my smartphone. That's wild.
bufferoverflow··on As a developer, my most important tools are a pen and a notebook
I don't understand the pen/physical notebook thing. It's slow to write, insanely slow to search what you've written, almost impossible to copy or share.
bufferoverflow··on Singularities in Space-Time Prove Hard to Kill
We don't know if singularities are even possible. Maybe the universe has some crazy repulsive force when atoms or subatomic particles get really really close (closer than in neutron stars, where atoms are femtometers apart).
bufferoverflow··on Show HN: AutoThink – Boosts local LLM performance with adaptive reasoning
So it can be very very wrong.

You're trading correctness for speed.

But how do you classify a question as high vs low complexity? Some seemingly simple questions can turn out to be very very complex. For example, integer solution to

    x³ + y³ + z³ = 42
took over a hundred years of compute time to find.

Or another seemingly simple equation with positive integers x,y,z

    x/(y+z)+y/(z+x)+z/(x+y) = 4
requires elliptic curve knowledge, and the solution is huge

    x = 154476802108746166441951315019919837485664325669565431700026634898253202035277999

    z = 4373612677928697257861252602371390152816537558161613618621437993378423467772036

bufferoverflow··on Denmark to raise retirement age to 70
That's the big question. Depends on what policies are implemented and how quickly.
bufferoverflow··on Lieferando.de has captured 5.7% of restaurant related domain names
How do they change the phone # and the website of your business?
bufferoverflow··on Denmark to raise retirement age to 70
If AI takes most jobs, the system won't crumble. If anything, the system will probably work much better.

It's the transition period that I am worried about, when large percentages of the population are jobless, but safety nets aren't yet in place.

bufferoverflow··on Show HN: SVG Animation Software
What are you talking about? Hundreds of Blender developers did and do work for free.

Just because a movie made with it did well, doesn't mean Blender devs get paid.

bufferoverflow··on Devstral
Different class. Same exact use case.
bufferoverflow··on InventWood is about to mass-produce wood that's stronger than steel
That's an AI generated image

They didn't even bother to AI-upscale it to get rid of the artifacts

bufferoverflow··on Crypto has become the ultimate swamp asset
You can buy drugs and defraud rubes with USD too.

Crypto has many different useful applications. One of the main ones: limited supply (I am aware not all crypto has a cap).

bufferoverflow··on Google is building its own DeX: First look at Android's Desktop Mode
I've been using BlueStacks X to run android apps on desktop. Seems to work okay.
bufferoverflow··on We have reached the "severed fingers and abductions" stage of crypto revolution
In case of kidnapping having your money in a bank won't help you.
bufferoverflow··on Show HN: Aberdeen – An elegant approach to reactive UIs
1) this is the opposite of elegant. Something that can be expressed in a few clean lines of html + css turned into a wall of barely readable JS, where you have to jump between functions just to find the correct place in the DOM tree.

2) why do you call it "declarative"? This is procedural. React or Vue is more declarative (you declare the state, and it renders based on the state).

bufferoverflow··on We have reached the "severed fingers and abductions" stage of crypto revolution
You can store your private keys encrypted in a safety deposit box. You can store 3 copies in 3 different banks. It only costs $15-30 per year per box.
bufferoverflow··on Create and edit images with Gemini 2.0 in preview
In that scenario, if you can't describe what you want with words, a human designer can't read your mind either.
bufferoverflow··on OpenAI reaches agreement to buy Windsurf for $3B
Reread the comment I replied to. It has nothing to do with Anthropic or Google or DeepSeek.
bufferoverflow··on OpenAI reaches agreement to buy Windsurf for $3B
I bet they can hire best minds in the world for a fraction of $3 billion.
bufferoverflow··on OpenAI reaches agreement to buy Windsurf for $3B
But OpenAI already knows every single prompt sent to its models. They don't need to buy Windsurf for that.
bufferoverflow··on Show HN: Real-time AI Voice Chat at ~500ms Latency
It's fast, but it doesn't sound good. Many voice chat AIs are way ahead and sound natural.
bufferoverflow··on People are losing loved ones to AI-fueled spiritual fantasies
That works on humans too.
