code4life··on The Lemon Parser Generator
Yes, bison now is both, reentrant, thread-safe and supports push parsing. I helped implement the push parser support many years ago with the help of the Bison development team.
code4life··on Tim Cook Speaks Up
A christian is someone that believes in the teachings of Jesus Christ, namely salvation and sanctification. We come to salvation by believing Jesus Christ is God and his teachings are absolute, and that he is the Word of God, the Bible. We come to sanctification by striving daily to know God more, which happens through the indwelling Holy Spirit we receive during salvation and happens by reading and applying the Word of God in our soul, and then outwardly through our body.

Being homosexual or lusting after a women in your mind are equally damning, but rejecting these thoughts and actions and leaving them at the Cross is the message of the Bible.

To be fair, if you believe in evolution, thinking of things in terms of improvement is very subjective. Evolution isn't selecting for improvement, it's selecting for survival, which may or may not be correlated with your vision of improvement. Think of cockroaches.

From a christian perspective, the natural discontent stems from the fallen nature of man. You're worldly accomplishments will never be able to satisfy that discontentment, as the two areas are unrelated.

code4life··on Free Money for Everyone
In many ways, I'll describe two.

The newly created money is worth more when it's new. When the average person finally receives the money, the value is worth less through inflation.

Secondly, the rich can borrow money from the fed at 0%. Then they can buy bonds from the government and receive interest on that. How does the average person do that?

Well, there are other ideas.

As science leads you to believe that your consciousness is nothing at all (according to your description), bible based christianity tells you that your conscious is part of your soul, which is the part of you that lives forever. It is independent of your body, which will eventually be replaced with a perfect body.

code4life··on Ron Paul Launches Snowden Clemency Petition
A (maybe) small but passionate segment of the population.

I doubt it's as small as you think. He won Iowa (although that wasn't made clear until after the elections). He did well in several of the caucuses.

Watching Ron run for president opened my eyes to the vote corruption that takes place in our country. Especially in the caucasus.

One example I recall is how Ron was clearly going to win a caucus and so the majority of the other republicans decided to group together so that votes could vote for a coalition instead of letting Ron win. That was strange. (This was in 2008, I forget the state).

Then, in Nevada, where Paul won the majority of the delegates, Romney supporters formed their own state party, called “Team Nevada”. The RNC then bypassed the official state party in order to organize for Romney and send all funds to Team Nevada.

In Maine, they cancelled the vote due to a snowstorm, when only 84% of the votes were counted and Romney was leading by 200 votes. Of course, they never counted Washington county, which was Paul's strongest in 2008.

The point is, the corruption is never ending. For that reason, you really have no idea how many people support Ron Paul (and the ideas of the constitution) if you are guessing from votes and media reports.

In fact, perhaps spending a lot of time around Paul, Romney conceeds several times that Ron Paul is actually popular. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fx1JWMr5cVk

code4life··on Is The Economist left- or right-wing?
Just because they believe the creation event was done in the last 10,000 years doesn't mean they believe the earth is 10,000 years old.

God created Adam and Eve as adults. They had an age (non zero).

The stars had light immediately shining across the sky. So this implies age (via time). etc.

code4life··on Stop Being Wrong About China Buying Our Bonds
Today China in essence suppresses the standard of living of it's productive sector. They do this by not allowing the exporters to keep the dollars they earn. Instead the exporters are forced to trade those dollars in for Chinese currency which is artificially pegged against the dollar. This means the exporters immediately lose value.

What the author completely fails to understand is that this is another possible outcome: * China decides to increase the standard of living of it's citizen * China slowly increases their currency peg to be closer to the value of the dollar * The exporters slowly have a higher profit, and thus the people a higher standard of living * The united states slowly lowers it's standard of living

Of course this is one possible outcome. However, the idea that the Chinese are forced to buy our bonds is ridiculous. They could just buy 1T in oil, copper, or other dollar based commodities. There are plenty of options besides treasuries.

code4life··on Skull of Homo erectus throws story of human evolution into disarray
I totally disagree. When I talk about "Creationism" I'm talking about a creation event that occurred (say 6000 years ago).

The implementation details aren't necessarily important.

The first 16 billion years could have been emulated and then placed on the live hardware to run after that.

The initial faith has a lot to do with our final outcomes.

Scientists are rather forced to believe in evolution (or some other form of something from nothing). How else could this wonder have happened?

Creationists start with the belief of something from God. This generally tends them to steer in a direction away from thinking evolution is true. Not necessarily though.

Either way, the point is, the creationists don't necessarily worry about implementation and so the young earth ideology shouldn't be tagged with them. That's my take anyways.

Honestly, this is a lot easier than you can believe.

I can only speak for my family, but we spend lots of time with other families and children. Church, Boy Scouts, Soccer, etc.

Ask yourself, have you ever been in public and recognized a home schooler because of the way they act?

The inverse is true too, how many socially awkward people do you remember from your public schooling? I sure remember a lot.

From my personal experience, I don't see a relationship between home/public schooling and social relationships.

One way to reduce the possibilities of a crime like this is to reduce the centralized system of public education.

My family home schools our children. It coincidentally helps solve this particular problem. (Perhaps it also reduces the likelihood that we spread viruses like the flu).

Making public education more distributed by the use of technology could certainly help with security.
