Amazon the company that makes its employees pee in bottles?

I would say they dont contribute. I don't think Jeff Bezos has contributed anything positive, at all. He's managed to become insanely rich in a system that rewards bad behavior, so what? All that value isnt doing anything.

this post reads like a parody you'd find on linkedin lunatics. I mean, sure, how could the joys of raising a human being compare to a slight bump in relevant kpi's?

hear me out though: What if every time you used an sql query it made a bunch of stuff up? 80% of the time its what you want but sometimes it just imagines data and pulls it out of its butt
code_for_monkey··on Helldivers 2 devs slash install size from 154GB to 23GB
that xbox install size is insane
code_for_monkey··on Everyone in Seattle hates AI
something I havent seen mentioned: the people who are AI's biggest proponents are distinctly unlikeable humans. Look at Elon Musk with Grok, its disgusting. Look at Sam Altman, Alex Karp, look at Peter "Im not sure humanity should continue" Thiel. These people are wildly misanthropic, of course it gives the whole thing an unpleasant miasma.

if I learn music had an AI involved it actually makes me feel awful. It totally just strips it of any appeal for me.

I think certain games dont even bother to optimize the install size so that you cant fit other games on the hard drive, I think COD games are regularly hundreds of gigs

AI people are like "HAHAHAHAH were gods! Were gods and you PEASANTS are going to be jobless once my machine can fire you!" and then wonder why people have negative feelings about it. The Ipod wasnt coming for my livelihood it just let me listen to music even more!

code_for_monkey··on Thiel and Zuckerberg on Facebook, Millennials, and predictions for 2030 (2019)
> there is a certain sense in which Mark Zuckerberg has been cast as 'the spokesman' for the Millennial generation — as the single person who gives voice to the hopes and fears and the unique experiences of this generation, at least in the USA

Fucks sake... that is an absolutely bananas read of Zuck's place in American culture.

Peter Thiel thinks Greta Thunberg is the antichrist. this should be disqualifying for life in the public sphere and somehow it is not.

code_for_monkey··on Beets: The music geek’s media organizer
Genres are fun to play with too. If something has breakdown and maybe some screams? Put 'core' at the end. Its all up to interpretation and it gives us some easy short hand to discuss music.
code_for_monkey··on Beets: The music geek’s media organizer
I don't think theres anything wrong with labelling genres, its good for describing things. If I say "I love post hardcore, does anyone have more of that?" its a lot easier than going "hear me I out, I like punk sounds but maybe not necessarily punk songs?" What about movies? Can books have a genre? seems like a silly thing to take issue with. Alternative is a huge umbrella and it means something very different now than it did in the 90's when it meant pavement or sonic youth.

its also not going to happen. They arent going to shave off 30 cents because thats just not how it works, they'll make 30 cents more an item. Realistically, they'll charge even more and make even more on top of that.

I had a very similar experience with an amazon interviewer over an even dumber reason: I was going on vacation. Seems dumb, but in your early 20's, with everything booked, I was excited, and frankly didnt see why it was worth insulting me (Its pretty normal to be too busy to do a first round interview on a given week, sometimes things get pushed back 7 days.)
