I love JavaScript but this pipe thing is horrific.
Jquery was handling element selection, manipulation, behaviors, futures/promises, ajax calls etc.
Somebody came along in each of those categories and “specialized” such that jquery was left as the bloated old choice.
Bootstrap was awesome, but as component based libraries like react/vue etc came around, I don’t need component level css helpers as much.
And then tailwind helped fill in the gap of being quite a bit more explicit and granular.
div.height(maxVH).color(primary).hide()
It’s all stuffed in classes because that’s the limitation given and this information belongs in the markup.
The above is much cleaner to me than: div.class(“primary”). I need to go find primary. What is the parent class. What happens if this isn’t a div now etc. what happens if the parent isn’t a div?
Tailwind just spells it out for you right alongside the layout so that you have all the information in one place.
For me personally, I was able to do things in tailwind I could never do in raw css, but I bet I got better at css as a result.
The docs are also incredible for tailwind. As good as mdn is, you need to already know what you’re looking for.
Valuations don’t mean much until the money changes hands, typically with the asset holder losing.
I was explaining that not all of his non-aggregated columns were in his group by, so his query wasn't going to work.... but what do you know, MySQL will just return whatever it feels like from the group in that situation. I expected it not to run at all.
I think there are some flags etc you can use to enable to stricter behavior but it was one of the wildest footguns I've ever seen.
of all the things to hate about elon, tesla, and this whole concept of locking down features in a car, FSD really isn't one of them, as its just a software issue and its a totally separate package that isn't core to the operational capability of the car's components.
You can also have system level cleverness, which is fine as long as you can explain the cleverness in a few sentences. Sometimes the data access layer is clever and the other stuff isn't....
at the end of the day, as long as you leave things such that they are easy to change, or at least you're brave enough to change them, none of it really matters. Someone is going to replace the "clever" code with other code that does more or less the same thing, and then next engineer will replace that code with something else.
Perfect shouldn't be the enemy of good etc, but some of it feels like just make the gov't complicit in people absolutely ruining their own lives. Its a tough nut to crack.
Sometimes you want them to be equal, sometimes you want to know they aren’t… but it’s not out of the ordinary at all to want to check
I don’t think this article is expressing any opinions on normalization
Every system could be improved and if you prefer one the other isn't by default inherently evil.
People within both systems can suck.
Numbers would be great and they should definitely produce them, but I don’t think they would change my thinking they legacy admissions is negative.
AI is real though… but everyone who thinks forking over massive amounts of money to OAI is good business is going to be sorely disappointed when prices increase and/or apis go away all together.
You need to be building something of your own based on the tech. The hallmark of crypto bro turned ai influencer is doing none of the work themselves… just like they let everyone else mine the crypto and then basically just stole it.
