codeddesign··on Twitter refused to pay AWS bill, so Amazon refused to pay for ads
If they had talent, they would still have a job or easily move into a role they prefer. Doing a job vs talent are completely different animals.

By the way, since we are arguing over downtime..does anyone have tangible stats on this?

codeddesign··on Twitter refused to pay AWS bill, so Amazon refused to pay for ads
Or…the code base is a house of cards built by a poorly managed company. Then when changes are made the legacy code falls apart. This is the more likely scenario. Ultimately Twitter like the rest of the Valley was built on some great developers..and a whole lot of bad ones.
codeddesign··on Twitter refused to pay AWS bill, so Amazon refused to pay for ads
This has nothing to do with Elon, but rather that’s just how business works. The number of people that criticize without understanding how business works is almost comical. On the otherhand, California and the Valley are pretty comical to the rest of the country..
codeddesign··on Nobody needs a faster dishwasher – solve real user needs
I have never understood people who place dirty dishes in dishwashers. You have to rinse first. Dishwasher essentially sanitize, rather than clean food off your plates.
codeddesign··on Twitter refused to pay AWS bill, so Amazon refused to pay for ads
That’s business. Running a few EC2’s is a lot different than a multimillion dollar contract. Both sides have a little power to swing around. This is done on a daily basis in all industries worldwide.
codeddesign··on Americans applying for 'golden passports' more than any other nationality
Do you have a source to backup your claim? USCIS is telling me different. There is currently a 4-year wait on secondary green cards, in which 2021 there was a 2 year wait. According to the Center of iImmigration Studies, immigration has doubled since Biden took office: https://cis.org/Report/ForeignBorn-Population-Hits-Nearly-48...
codeddesign··on Twitter refused to pay AWS bill, so Amazon refused to pay for ads
When was the last time you took ownership of a multi-million $$ contract? It actually happens quite often. This is business, not a Netflix subscription.
codeddesign··on Twitter refused to pay AWS bill, so Amazon refused to pay for ads
That’s your argument back? A completely unrelated comment? ::facepalm::
codeddesign··on Twitter refused to pay AWS bill, so Amazon refused to pay for ads
Oh..how press likes to twist reality. This appears more like intense contract negotiation rather than default.
codeddesign··on Amazon is closing its cashierless stores in NYC, San Francisco and Seattle
I wonder if this is a store issue or following in Walmart’s footsteps due to high crime and theft in those areas..
codeddesign··on I disapprove of what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it
Today’s left leaners: “I disapprove with what you say, so I will get angry and harass until you agree with me”
codeddesign··on India to tighten pharmaceutical quality checks amid US ‘superbug’ outbreak
55 cases is now an outbreak?? More infants die from vaccines each year.
codeddesign··on Americans applying for 'golden passports' more than any other nationality
According to the Migration Policy Institute, in 2019, approximately 30% of the population had arrived in the country within the past 10 years.

Considering the green card wait has increased 400% in the past 2 years, it’s safe to assume this number is dramatically higher now.

codeddesign··on Early morning university classes linked to poor sleep and academic performance
That’s ridiculous. This is like saying that your job is linked to poor sleep and performance.

Plan and prioritize.

If it’s too much, you are either over loaded or out having fun at night. Either way, decrease the work load.

Theories like this one from Nature does more harm than good, by placing blame on the school or hours rather than the students lifestyle or choices.

Snowflakes creating more snowflakes.

codeddesign··on Clinic to open near Ohio derailment as health worries linger
You are trying to compare a large toxin spill against a municipal failing to upgrade their infrastructure. This is similar to Flint, MI.

If you want to compare Jackson, MS..it’s 82% black (which is why you brought it up) in which its own state calls it the murder capital of the world. It appears they have a lot of city related issues including misappropriation of funds.

codeddesign··on Clinic to open near Ohio derailment as health worries linger
and if this happened just outside Atlanta, it would be all over the news for the next month..and senators would call it racial injustice. Not to mention every govt agency on site. Train derailments happen regularly every week, but not to this extent. It’ll be an ecological disaster. The water may be fine now, but no so much in a month. Ground water seepage takes time.
codeddesign··on Why ultra-light urban vehicles offer the only viable future for EVs
So unrealistic.. Kids? Groceries? Carrying anything?

Tesla’s are nearly impossible if you have a family, let alone an ultra light

codeddesign··on Google to Layoff 6% of Workforce
Twitter lays off 3k and people freak. Google lays off 12k..crickets..
codeddesign··on Twitter is censoring journalist critical of Tesla
Did anyone even bother to check? He’s the first listing when running a search.

The SV bro’s went from “he is a savior!” to “I hate him! Let’s create a cancel mob”

codeddesign··on Why do traffic reduction schemes attract so many conspiracy theories?
Anytime a government restricts free travel within its borders, it can be seen as overreach or a mechanism to control you.

My personal thoughts: if a society as a whole wants it, they will self regulate. If the society as a whole doesn’t, it’s forced.

codeddesign··on EarSpy: Spying on Phone Calls via Ear Speaker Vibrations
“whether the target is male or female, the EarSpy attack had a 98% accuracy”

I guess the other 2% are “gender neutral”.

codeddesign··on Cyber Ninjas shutting down after judge fines Arizona audit company $50K a day
Why would that be your fear? The ruling by the judge was to hand over info by X date or face penalties of $50k per day until it’s done. Obviously they have the right to appeal, but that was the ruling.

In any case, on a side-note: the real issue here is that until power and corruption is limited on both sides of the aisle this will continue. Anyone that thinks one party is more corrupt than the other has a false sense of reality. Both parties should be disbanded and senators given very short terms in office.

codeddesign··on Number of unvaccinated people needed to exclude to prevent 1 Covid transmission
Looks like you got downvoted by the HN mob for stating an unpopular opinion. To an extent I don’t disagree with you. The CDC’s recent changes were obviously forced on them to encourage more people to work or go out and spend.
codeddesign··on Cloudflare view of Kazakhstan disconnecting from the Internet
Just an observation: It’s interesting to see that the strongest “attack” is coming from the US.
codeddesign··on YouTube takes down Joe Rogan interview with Dr Robert Malone
You mentioned conspiracy theories, so yes in the wider view there does seem to be a rampant issue with sheep. Not liking or agreeing with information is not the same as misinformation. Do you have a source to backup your claim?
codeddesign··on YouTube takes down Joe Rogan interview with Dr Robert Malone
I agree with you on this. However, Dr. Malone is very well known in his field and yet has been banned from both twitter and linkedin in the past few months (before the video aired). The wider issue goes beyond a simple DMCA. The guy is vaccinated, infected twice, a "senior-level" scientist in the field of infectious diseases, but is also outspoken against vaccine companies and forced jabbing.

codeddesign··on YouTube takes down Joe Rogan interview with Dr Robert Malone
Mass Formation Psychosis explains so much about the toxicity of social network sites now, and especially going against the narrative here on HN.
codeddesign··on YouTube takes down Joe Rogan interview with Dr Robert Malone
Whether you like either of these guys, this is getting out of hand with these social media companies. There is perfectly logical and scientific reasoning for arguments on both sides of this issue. However, companies like Twitter are heavily pushing internal ideology.
codeddesign··on CDC Updates, Shortens Recommended Isolation and Quarantine Period
The hypocrisy is astounding. I don’t disagree with the numbers above, but at the same time you are absolutely right - yet downvoted and grayed out. Reminds me of Twitter and Reddit.
