codegangsta··on Essential Go: A Screencast from the Author of Martini and Negroni
Author here. I'm super stoked to release this to the wild. I know I've gotten feedback from a few of you guys and I am super appreciative of the great community we got here! My hope is that this video course will be a great resource for people wanting to get into Go.

As always, this course has the signature codegangsta quality and some other nice features from the Kajabi platform.

If you have any friends that are interested in learning Go this way let me know! I'm always interested in finding great ways to get people excited about the language!

codegangsta··on Building Web Apps with Go
Great idea. Added an issue https://github.com/codegangsta/web-development-in-go/issues/...
codegangsta··on Building Web Apps with Go
Thanks for the feedback guys! The book is still a work in progress. It started as curriculum for the workshop I gave a couple days ago at DotGo. The plan is to continue making it awesome and to make the examples more complete.
codegangsta··on Go Screencasts by codegangsta are Coming Soon
I'm really excited to get these screencasts out the door. I'm also interested in episode suggestions from you guys who are either using Go or wanting to learn Go.
codegangsta··on Show HN: Gin – Golang Martini-like web framework
Looks neat. Very I think it was a smart choice to pick an existing HTTP router. Like was mentioned above, the name was unfortunately used beforehand. https://github.com/codegangsta/gin
codegangsta··on Thoughts on Martini – Introducing Negroni
Thanks for the positive feedback guys!

The Go community overall has made me a better developer, and I'm so excited to see where the community takes the language in the next couple years!

codegangsta··on Go, robots and refactoring
Nice post Matt! I would love to see more of these eyewitness accounts of refactoring in the go community. Maybe a refactoring video should be in the works ;)
codegangsta··on Goji: a web microframework for Go
I can't speak for Goji. But one popular open source Martini app is Gogs https://github.com/gogits/gogs
codegangsta··on Goji: a web microframework for Go
Looks very nice. I do appreciate having more clean, well thought out web frameworks in the Go space. Type switches for your handlers is a good way to approach the net/http compatibility.

There are some people that find that Martini is a bit too magical for them, and that is completely okay. It's great to see another minimal framework that will suit their needs.

codegangsta··on Ask HN: Ideas on promoting an open source project?
I launched Martini with a nice clean website and a fun little video to get people excited about it. I think it had a pretty good launch.

and the video

codegangsta··on What is a Web Framework?
This is very true. It is a real issue in the open source world. http://github.com/codegangsta/martini tries to pride itself on minimalism. Thankfully the modularity of the project allows me to tell people to add features via other packages and repositories. Even though the product is solid it is difficult to communicate that the project is still active without having so many commits.

This is one of the reasons that I find the Golang package management philosophy refreshing in theory. "Master should never break" really prevents feature creep from coming in and promotes the use of solid packages that aren't always being actively worked on. Of course there are some major drawbacks wrt lack of versioning in Go, but I think the philosophy there overall is a very good thing for open source development.

codegangsta··on Free screencasts to learn Go
Nope. I own that one :) We are working on the first few videos atm
codegangsta··on Build a Christmas List with Martini
`go run` compiles your app already. In the case that you have multiple files in your package you will need to run `go build`
codegangsta··on Build a Christmas List with Martini
Author here. One question I often get about Martini is how to hook it up to a database. I hope this post helps explain the Martini workflow a bit more!
codegangsta··on Writing HTTP Middleware in Go
Agreed. I really like how gocraft does contexts. Very cool way to structure your app
codegangsta··on Writing HTTP Middleware in Go
I find the args approach the most appealing to me. Yeah you lose some compile time safety. Like you said the other option is a global context with mutexes which still somewhat misses some compile time safety. It basically boils down to reflection over type assertions.

I think Martini handles this pretty darn well if I do say so myself ;)

codegangsta··on Build a RESTful API with Martini
We just merged in a glob like feature for routes so you can accomplish things like route filtering or virtual servers. Eg m.Get("/hello/", ...)
codegangsta··on Build a RESTful API with Martini
Author of Martini here. It's very cool to see community members explain concepts better than I can! I'm very excited to see where the golang community can take this over time.
codegangsta··on Gadget: A smallish web framework for Go
shameless plug. Martini doesn't even have html template rendering out of the box. I originally built it because I wanted a better experience building webservices for Angular frontends :)

https://github.com/codegangsta/martini

You and I sir, are on the same wavelength

codegangsta··on Gadget: A smallish web framework for Go
Yup I plan to keep it that way too. I believe there is enough flexibility in Martini to cultivate some great functionality around the martini-contrib repo. There is already some pretty awesome things landing there https://github.com/codegangsta/martini-contrib
codegangsta··on Gadget: A smallish web framework for Go
Have you seen Martini?

codegangsta··on Gadget: A smallish web framework for Go
If you don't want it then you don't want it. Both Gadget and Martini pretty clearly outline the value that they bring to the table. If that value proposition does not win you over then these frameworks are not for you.

I personally have seen a great improvement in code simplicity, readability, and overall DRYness when projects are written using Martini.

Choosing a framework isn't about following some sort of socially acceptable way to build your web apps. Just build them! If a framework solves a problem for you then use it, otherwise keep using net/http handlers.

codegangsta··on Gadget: A smallish web framework for Go
I totally built a watcher command line app and ditched it because this was more convenient :)

codegangsta··on On Go’s Web Application Ecosystem
Yup. Getting there will take a while. In the meantime I plan on releasing a whole bunch of middleware in the martini-contrib repo and creating more video tutorials on web development in Go.
codegangsta··on Trousseau: an encrypted and networked key-value database
This is a good example of clean, well written Go code.

Great job oleiade! This is definitely on my radar.

codegangsta··on On Go’s Web Application Ecosystem
Author of Martini here. I think right now is a very exciting time for web development in Go.

One of the goals of Martini is to rally developers to create some more reusable web modules in the form of handlers and middleware. Martini has gotten a great response because it doesn't infringe it's api on your modules/middlewares.

I personally think that this is the way to move forward with web development in Go. Less coupling, pull in the dependencies you need, get stuff done.

codegangsta··on On Go’s Web Application Ecosystem
Martini author here. Weird how it didn't show up in the golang-nuts search, here is a link to the announcement topic: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/golang-nuts/LubMauy6...

Martini is still young (less than a week) but the core is pretty fleshed out.

No boosting here (I don't even have that many twitter followers). I just put together a framework that doesn't step on your toes and people ate it up :)

codegangsta··on Ask HN: What are some Go projects looking for contributors?
Martini is looking for some more middleware in the martini-contrib repo:

http://martini.codegangsta.io

codegangsta··on Martini: Classy web development in Go
The idea is to keep it small with lots of packages that work with it. It is easy enough to add any ORM instances (gorp, gorm) as a service so it can be injected into a Martini Handler.

Thanks for the feedback!

codegangsta··on Martini: Classy web development in Go
Yup. I'm using gocode, and a VIM keybinding to restart the server in a tmux pane.
