deepstack··on IMAP API – self hosted daemon to access IMAP and SMTP accounts via HTTP API
Great to see this here. Andris9 is great! He also made wildduck which also allows IMAP api:

deepstack··on Facebook Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp Outage
IMHO, it is NOT encrypted, unless the service provider (also can't read your message). A promise from a Russian based company (the Facebook of Russia) doesn't put any assurances for me.
deepstack··on Facebook Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp Outage
why Signal and not wire? (no sim card needed), No need to allow access to your address book to make group chat. Works in browser, ios, android, desktop app. Using signal protocol. And you can draw in it.
deepstack··on Show HN: Slices – puzzle game
Does this game have lattice based theory involved?
deepstack··on Show HN: Slices – puzzle game
Nice design and UI/UX.
deepstack··on Steve Wozniak launches Efforce, a blockchain-based energy-saving platform
* only auditors/inspectors can do that *

exactly. Everytime with this smart meter comes up, this is the crucial thing that just doesn't make sense. No replacement for "auditors/inspectors"!

deepstack··on The Danish climate minister closing down the nation’s oil and gas industry
yeah it is something DK is in the position to do. It will not work for Norway for example ;-)

Each country ought to do what works for them atm.

deepstack··on TimescaleDB vs. Amazon Timestream
if you self-host is always cheaper than using AWS. It also keep you not have to lock down to a vendor.

AWS use to be great when it first came out in 2006ish, but now it is just because a pain to work with.

EDIT: especially considering all the other options are available in VPS now days.

deepstack··on The Chrome Root Program
In some ways I get why software developers want to roll their own CA, less dependancy on the OS. There are several times when I visit a web site using latest browser, but get an error while viewing a SSL page because OS CA is too old, and there is no way to upgrade it. I'm talking win xp days of course. But yeah why rely on the OS.

EDIT: kinda like how node_module thing got started in the first place. But I can see how this can turn into another browser war with Google and Mozilla each starting to bundle their own CA bundles. God, can we just please have DHT type for Root CA already?

deepstack··on Protein folding: Much more intricate than we thought (2017)
For sure, it is probably just another perspective that has not being discovered yet that is why it seems like black magic. For example, we already know Muon And Neutrino particles are just flying around with very little interaction with our 3D world. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antarctic_Muon_And_Neutrino_De...

Who know what else is flooding around.

deepstack··on Hackhunter hunts down malicious WiFi
Yeah what bothers me is they are so impressed by a little graphics front end change, but most stuff done in the backend are not really taken noticed.
deepstack··on Hackhunter hunts down malicious WiFi
@tastroder you have to get most people are not tech. You have no idea how sale and marketing get impressed by some chart or graph sometimes. Everything seems like black magic to non techies now days.
deepstack··on DwarFS: A fast high compression read-only file system
nice, wonder how this compare with MongoDB compression of files and objects. Seems like a great foundation for archiving data.
deepstack··on GPG and Me (2015)
They could also just ask for an email, like wire does.

Edit: or generate a UUID type random string for each new device.

deepstack··on hCaptcha now runs on fifteen percent of the internet
yes we need captcha that supports browsers like links. NOJS browser ought to make a comeback. display image, text and video. For many sites that's ALL we need.

For sure enable javascript to get the fancy stuff, but mostly we just want to read the text, view the picture and see the video.

deepstack··on Technology as It Should Be
depending on the speed of the hardware. With the new phones last few years speed is really not the problem. And you can do a lot of the web. Just not push notification.

Edit: by push notification I mean phone level push notification. When an web page is in the background it stops. And an app can have services running. Yeah and the netflix thing for content protection yeah you need an app.

deepstack··on Next.js Commerce store, one-click deploy to Netlify
there is no gatekeeping. Everything is online! If you are interested you can learn it. Don't jump on band wagon because of trend or the pay!

software development is NOT for everyone. Either you got or you put in a lot of work and get it. Other wise go do something else.

deepstack··on Next.js Commerce store, one-click deploy to Netlify
yes. It is ok if someone doesn't know anything and want to learn as a coder/developer. What I find mostly is that new comers are usually just following the trend or the pay. It is quite a turn off. I'm sure the musicians and artists can relate to that. And often the experienced developer end up cleaning up their stuff, then they move on to another track to be manager or something. (that's to answer your question).
deepstack··on Next.js Commerce store, one-click deploy to Netlify
I also am very upset how the bar got lower for web developer. It just some how developer becomes a cool thing to do, and people who are not even interested in development jumped on the band wagon it is very annoying for people who truly understand the development and coding process and being doing it before it was cool.
deepstack··on An API is a user interface
Hahaha exactly, most time if you people just look at the alphbetical soup is, then they will get the answer.
deepstack··on Next.js Commerce store, one-click deploy to Netlify
By default stripe.js (one version ago), the default button they included on their getting start page does the same thing, it took us a really long time to implement the custom api that will only submit the credit card number info + amount charged + zip to strip and rest of stuff (customer name, email address, phone number and transactions, etc) to our server.

What bothers me about these lowering the bar for new front end developer/designer is that it is free feast for these kind of non compliance :(

deepstack··on Posting JSON with an HTML Form (2016)
oh that is a bit of flash back sql injection attack.
deepstack··on Funkwhale is looking for new maintainers
thanks. They just put the pricing list. It wasn't there before. For sure, it is very great they put it up.
deepstack··on Ask HN: What is the best money you have spent on professional development?
What I mean is if you are making a SPA. Which is often NOT needed for regular web site unless you have a good reason to do so.
deepstack··on Ask HN: What is the best money you have spent on professional development?
if you have PSD just use some services to convert it to HTML5. No point hiring a front end developer.
deepstack··on Apple Announces App Store Small Business Program
More reason to make PWA and keep everything in HTML5 if possible.
deepstack··on Let's Make the Web Weird Again [audio]
Other than that web/internet is NOT trust worthy. Great for entertainment, not serious business or financial transaction.
deepstack··on Let's Make the Web Weird Again [audio]
I would only trust in web again if there is serious open source/libre post-quantum encryption.
deepstack··on Apple apps on Big Sur bypass some firewalls and VPNs
By this I just mean it is general observation in company when they become large. If we are to support free market. Big companies are not be allowed to exist, it just encourage mon/dup/oli gopoly and hinter economic optimisation.
deepstack··on Apple apps on Big Sur bypass some firewalls and VPNs
Big companies are disgusting in general!
