deevolution··on Bored Ape virtual land sale breaks Ethereum
It's amazing how much people care how other people spend their money. It's their money, if they want to spend it on ape pictures so be it. Nothing to see here, move along.
deevolution··on Google says AI generated content is against guidelines
What about high quality ai content? What if someday the content generated by ai is actually more useful/higher quality than the human generated content we just shoot outself in the foot because it's ai generated. Seems discriminatory to me!
deevolution··on Insider trading by executives is pervasive – research
Regulators have too much power and influence on markets - they're worried about market manipulation but as far as I'm concerned they are the only ones manipulating markets.
deevolution··on Ask HN: What is the HN of Cryptocurrency?
HN is full of disgruntled haters. There are lots of DAOs that discuss crypto. I recently joined the FWB DAO https://www.fwb.help/ which has a pretty vibrant community. The one caveat is that you need to prove you own 75 FWB tokens to gain access (subject to change based on a seasonal community vote). The benefit is that it keeps spammers out. Generally the discussions and community members have been pretty high quality.
deevolution··on 38% of remote workers work from bed
Look at the entire crypto space. $1.5T+ of value and growing and the vast majority of it is built remotely, sometimes anonymously, and it's one of the most free and spontaneous industries.
deevolution··on Amazon denies report of accepting Bitcoin as payment
The solution already exists... there's thousands of crypto coins already. If fb hasn't released a coin yet at this point they never will. They're frozen in ice by the threat of regulatory crackdown.
deevolution··on Amazon denies report of accepting Bitcoin as payment
You can't pay taxes in bezos-bucks right now, but you maybe able to in the future https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-02-11/miami-may...
deevolution··on Amazon denies report of accepting Bitcoin as payment
Companies creating their own coin is like having an intranet... intranets mostly suck and have no real value. There's a reason the www is superior - because it's fully open.
deevolution··on Wall Street Takes Workers’ Retirement Money and Uses It Against Them
It's called rehypothecation. They take your savings and buy up assets or use it for collateral. That's the consequence of using custodial services - they can do whatever they want with your money.
deevolution··on Crushing heat wave in Pacific Northwest cooked shellfish alive by the millions
Events like this happen and yet no on wants to adopt nuclear energy. Instead the narrative is natural gas supplemented by wind, solar, and batteries all of which cause more environmental destruction. Even in catastrophic nuclear failures, nature inevitably reclaims the land. On the other hand Solar panels and wind farms decimate local wildlife populations and require large amounts of land use - not to mention the mining operations.
deevolution··on The cost of the “new way to message on instagram” (2020)
Right now Facebook is the only company that can make a client.. In a crypto native ecosystem you could have multiple competing clients. Instead of organizing labor and playing directly into the hands of the corps, users simply vote with their attention by choosing or building a more desirable client. Progress is made through innovation, technology, and community building. Organizing labor just isn't enough!!! You have to go further.
deevolution··on The cost of the “new way to message on instagram” (2020)
I'm sure I'll get lots of eye rolls and skepticism for saying this but: i feel like crypto projects and DAOs are in the very early stages of solving some of these problems by giving communities abilities to vote on upgrades or fork off if they don't agree with an implemented change. It's still very early and governance systems are still being experimented with, but I'm optimistic.
deevolution··on Robots could take place of pupils who cannot attend school in person
Also a robot is going to be far more expensive than something like a VR classroom. VR classrooms solves the socializing aspect. Also another benefit to a VR classroom would be potentially less bullying based on gender/race/weight if you can select whatever avatar you want
deevolution··on Robots could take place of pupils who cannot attend school in person
The extreme lengths the state will go thru to make sure everyone is attending school... what's wrong with online/virtual learning? Imagine if you could select from the very best rather than being limited to your own school district.
deevolution··on Japan's government plans to encourage 4-day workweek, but experts split
"Those who want more days off for such purposes as acquiring new skills and taking side jobs are not eligible for the program, he said."

Of course - why would a company want their employees to learn new skills on the side that could potentially lead to greater personal fulfillment -.-

deevolution··on “Great resignation” wave coming for companies
I think shorter work weeks would be more realistic/desirable than full FIRE. However, I suspect most successful FIRE people must develop a or two hobby that inevitably generates money and keeps them busy. Otherwise most will just get bored out of their mind after 1-2 years.
deevolution··on “Great resignation” wave coming for companies
Actually just requested a 4 day work week for the same amount of money. Wish me luck! Seems reasonable to me tho, I can probably provide the same amount of value as if I worked 5 days a week - but who knows maybe they will just give me more work to do instead!
deevolution··on If you sell a house these days, the buyer might be a pension fund
Part of why I like bitcoin is because the artifical digital scarcity should in theory reduce pressure from the housing market by attracting speculators to a much more liquid, low maintenance, and secure asset. Just anecdotally, I feel more inclined to invest my money into bitcoin than real estate. I wonder if there are others like me?
deevolution··on Research suggests that when the rich bank, the rest borrow
Yes that's basically how money is created. Money is then destroyed when the debt is repaid. Great video resource about money narrated by Ray Dalio: https://youtu.be/PHe0bXAIuk0
deevolution··on In Mexico, cartels are hunting down police at their homes
States are also cartels but we just call the overlords by different names (Police, Mayor, Military, etc). Both commit obscene amounts of violence. Just look at the military history of United States for instance.
deevolution··on $365B wiped off cryptocurrency market after Tesla stops accepting Bitcoin
The dollar only has value because you are forced to pay the government with it to pay taxes or else you go to prison/get beat to death for protesting. The nice thing about crypto is the absence of a mafia threatening my life if I refuse to use it :)
deevolution··on $365B wiped off cryptocurrency market after Tesla stops accepting Bitcoin
It's not much different from the current fiat monetary regime. Those closest to the money spigot benefit the most... cryptocurrency opens it up to individuals rather than limiting it to governments.
deevolution··on Jaguar Land Rover to suspend output due to chip shortage
I wish the chip foundries published their production queue to the general public... that would be some fascinating data to go thru
deevolution··on Jaguar Land Rover to suspend output due to chip shortage
I've never heard of other crypto currencies referred to as Bitcoin by anyone other than noobs. It's like calling the Mexican Peso a Dollar. The semantics are important - i.e. for doing something like currency conversions.
deevolution··on TSMC sees chip shortage lasting into 2022
What's the alternative? only people deemed "essential" are allocated a GPU? how are you going to enforce that? by invading China and seizing the means of production?
deevolution··on TSMC sees chip shortage lasting into 2022
That is just a horrible suggestion... Doesn't matter what rules or what level of enforcement you take to try to control prices/allocate resources... people will find a loophole to get around your authoritarian restrictions, and rightly so.
deevolution··on TSMC sees chip shortage lasting into 2022
When the trading stops, the bloodshed starts and bodies flop.
deevolution··on WhatsApp's new privacy policy is so bad it might be illegal
If the service is free, you are the product. Why expect any level of privacy from a free to use app? Bonkers.
deevolution··on The absolute worst scenario happened
Absolute chad badassery
deevolution··on How I cut GTA Online loading times by 70%
