With this mentality, we wouldn’t have had women in positions of power or even women voters. Same for people of color etc. I Personally _love_ that some companies, people and countries are bold enough to experiment with unorthodox approaches, because sometimes those ideas work and the rest of us benefit from the learnings.

elsewhen··on Slack’s Shares Plunge After It Predicts a Larger Loss
Sales and marketing are largely one-time expenses, but customers can have very high LTVs. So you can zoom into a particular quarter of a company's results and they can have huge losses. But, in the future they can dial down their sales and marketing expense, and be sitting on an extremely profitable business.

his net worth is calculated by taking his share of the FMV of the assets he owns. presumably, he could sell his share of the company to a buyer and he would then become liquid.

capital gains taxes represent less than 10% of total revenue [0] raised by the IRS. sure the rates can be raised, but is that going to make a meaningful dent?

elsewhen··on Doomsday Prep for the Super-Rich (2017)
the top 10% of taxpayers paid 70.87% of federal income taxes in 2014 [0].

and did you know that the bottom 50% paid 2.75%?

would dropping that 2.75% down to zero (which sounds fine to me) avert the breaking point?
