It definitely introduced me to RLS though.
Scientific truths are really useful for everyday life, but they're not guaranteed to be true into eternity.
There are countless examples of scientific consensus being overturned with new data, observations and experiments.
It doesn't mean we should ignore scientific consensus, but rather that scientific consensus by itself is not the most compelling argument.
It's amazing how much effort we put into restricting access on the server, but ignore user roles on the data layer.
CSS now has variables (if you really need them -- chances are you don't).
The redundancy of writing a selector multiple times is sightly annoying, but I don't think it rises to the level of value I need to include a new dependency in my app or build pipeline.
There's a trend to throw a library at the problem, but that comes at a cost.
The results certainly sound encouraging.
I'm curious though how people from those communities who tried to do the "right thing" and not get involved with gangs feel about this leniency.
I'd imagine there's a tipping point where too much forgiveness and inclusion for too many criminals leads to a lack of trust in the rule of law.
Some novel things like a primaryColor variable to easily adust your theme is easily replicated with a traditional find/replace.
The fewer frameworks / compiles-to X languages you have to learn the better.
IMO, a little redundancy is better than a little complexity or a little dependency.
Now what if time is an illusion and similar to the video objects in life simply appear to be bouncing in and out of our 3d realm? That would look a lot like time.
But if we could see in 4d, we'd see that they're not really coming or going and could see all of their possible states at once.
It might be like being able to see an entire movie all at once rather than frame by frame.
We broke up into pairs and one person put on a blindfold while the other person let them around campus.
After about 5 minutes the person being blindfolded could hear people, conversations, cars, etc. far sooner than their partner.
It's like a miniature version of the Venus cloud city idea, but here on Earth.

But if your goal is to let animals roam free in their native habitats then captivity on farms probably doesn't seem like the better option to you.
Well, take a monkey, orca, elephant, dolphin, etc. and it would be hard not to. Sure, many farm animals fall below that level, but they're not bugs either. Many mammals have some basic language, care for their young, give distress calls, migrate, find shelter, etc. which seems to indicate at least some level of future planning whether innate or not. And many intelligent mammals have been seen grieving the dead or rescuing animals from danger.
> In free range "captivity" they suffer less. It's as simple as that.
Yet philosophy courses still exist... Because it's not as simple as that. For some, life is more than just the reduction of suffering. And there are a million other ways to answer "why we exist" or "how we should live".
For animals, we don't know. I think it's absurd to say we're giving them a better/easier/happier life on a farm or out in the wild. We don't know.
Taking zoos as an example though (which is a similar form of captivity, except they don't kill their animals), most people don't think it's a better life, except in the case where the animal is so weak, sick or unable to care for itself that it couldn't hunt in the wild.
Tons of prey animals are reintroduced to the wild, without concern that they might be eaten (some will), but in the hopes that many will survive and reproduce.
So, I guess if your goal is to ensure that the most number of animals lead a somewhat confined life away from predators until they're done growing, farms make sense. If your goal is to ensure that animals get to experience life in their native habitats including the ability to mate and get eaten, then farms aren't so good.
"The redirect_uri provided in Authorize User step" appears exactly once on the Internet according to Google: at smartcar.com. It looks like Otonomo did in fact copy/paste from the SmartCar website.

I think there's another class of substances though where withdrawal results in symptoms like fever, vomiting, etc. that are consistent across users regardless of their mental state.
But now with deepfakes and other video editing, it wouldn't be that crazy for an average person in China to simply not believe the video was real if their government universally denies it.
I think people are referring to the idea that pot is not physically addicting, meaning that your body won't experience withdrawal symptoms when you come down.
Tons of people are habitual smokers though bordering on mental addiction.
Taking power from a non-democratic leadership is incredibly difficult, risky and almost always violent. And non-democratic leadership very rarely self-democratize. Unfortunately, we don't know if much of the world wants democracy as it's aggressively stamped out in many places and illegal to pursue it.
No one is advocating for #2 or anything like it because it's a completely incompetent and reprehensible idea.
