flipcoder··on Reddit has quarantined /r/The_Donald
This has happened several times in major subs. /r/technology was pretty bad during the Ajit Pai net neutrality stuff. Tons of death threats, including discussion of tracking down his family. People were really angry obviously but it got out of control. It's been a long time since then and there's still a mod sticky on that sub in response to the number of violent posts.

I switched to MEGA. The desktop client MEGAsync is actually quite decent. Very similar to classic dropbox
flipcoder··on Millennials and Gen Z Increasingly Pessimistic About Their Lives, Survey Finds
Maybe it's just anecdotal, but I know too many people these days that are like this, very pessimistic nihilists who don't see that life is worth any effort or risk. I unfortunately have had friends whose general negative worldviews turned into clinical depression and suicidiality. It seems to me that worldview and mental health are related more than people like to admit.
flipcoder··on Millennials and Gen Z Increasingly Pessimistic About Their Lives, Survey Finds
I think a lot of this has to do with a shift of our worldviews from previous generations. People are growing more fearful, and have less trust in long term commitments like marriage working out and they view life decisions as more risky and not worth the effort versus the payoff. I don't share this view though.
flipcoder··on Textbeat: text music sequencer and midi shell with vim playback
Thanks for posting this! Glad to know people are interested in this idea as well. I started this not too long ago so don't expect something like a text DAW just yet, although that's the eventual goal. There's a trello board link in the readme if anyone is interested in where the project is headed.

Why limit who you do business with based on who agrees with you politically? That will probably hurt you more than it does anyone else.

> It's possible that there are times and places where political correctness really is oppressive; Considering my life experience, though, I find that to be pretty unlikely, but who knows.

Brendan Eich knows.

"Please consider that women are humans too, you know, if it's not too much trouble"

No one is arguing against this in particular. Conservatives believe women are human. They're also not all white males. I really hope I do not have to cite sources on this.

flipcoder··on Writing Multithreaded Applications in C++
Using boost::coroutine, resumable functions are already possible. I've implented an AWAIT() macro in my scheduler and its usage looks like this:

Implementation upon boost::coroutine here: https://github.com/flipcoder/kit/blob/master/include/kit/asy...

This is only a proof of concept, but it works.
