I'm a simple man. I see ciechanow.ski and I upvote.
green-eclipse··on Announcing KataOS and Sparrow
Just like the other tech titans. Microsoft has multiple OSes, as does Apple.
green-eclipse··on Announcing KataOS and Sparrow
I mostly agree with your comment. However I'll also say that Google, far more than any of the other tech titans, has a very long history of deeply supporting and embracing open source. It's part of the ethos, not just lip service.
green-eclipse··on Man plays his saxophone through 9-hour complex brain surgery to remove tumor
> "Moreover, the patient is left-handed. This makes things more complicated because the neural pathways of the brain are much more complicated."

This is fascinating. Why would this be?

green-eclipse··on SAT score distributions in Michigan
That comment is wild, and as such -- remember, don't believe everything you read on the internet. Who knows if this is accurate or not. Disinformation campaigns and anger-boosting campaigns (aimed at both sides of the ideological aisle) from all corners of the internet are very sophisticated these days.

green-eclipse··on Korea shatters its own record for world’s lowest fertility rate
IVF is incredibly expensive and certainly not guaranteed to be successful. Might have something to do with it.
green-eclipse··on Apple is allegedly threatening to fire an employee over a viral TikTok video
> Apple is allegedly threatening to fire an employee who posted a TikTok video with basic iPhone security tips. The employee, Paris Campbell, says she was told that she breached company policy by identifying herself as an Apple employee and posting about Apple-related topics.

green-eclipse··on Microsoft finally admits Xbox One sales were less than half of the PS4
Microsoft has also done an incredible amount of extremely shady stuff in their long history. Neither side is pure as the driven snow.
green-eclipse··on Microsoft finally admits Xbox One sales were less than half of the PS4
Ahh got it, thank you.
green-eclipse··on Microsoft finally admits Xbox One sales were less than half of the PS4
Is every HN reader a Microsoft or Sony shareholder?
green-eclipse··on Microsoft finally admits Xbox One sales were less than half of the PS4
Surely a person with the username "spywaregorilla" can understand the annoying overhead involved in owning and running a Microsoft Windows PC.

Can you explain what you mean by the "green team" phrase? Not familiar and google searches are not clearing it up. Thanks.
green-eclipse··on DuckDuckGo browser’s privacy protection will also apply to Microsoft scripts now
"One thing it won’t block by default after the changes roll out this week, is scripts for bat.bing.com that load directly after a user clicks on one of DDG’s search ads, which it says are used on advertisers’ sites to measure ad effectiveness."
green-eclipse··on Show HN: Eattsy – Reimagining the world’s relationship with cooking and food
I think you presented this too early. There's barely any content on it. You need to seed it with recipes first so us users can actually fully appreciate what the product is.

There's "Featured makelists" named "Test" and "Untitled Makelist." This site isn't ready for an audience yet.

green-eclipse··on AlphaFold reveals the structure of the protein universe
It's impossible to really put a number on it, because the task itself was impossible. PHDs and the field's top scientists simply couldn't figure out many complicated protein structures after years of attempts, and the fact that there's so many (200M+) mean that the problem space is vast.
green-eclipse··on AlphaFold reveals the structure of the protein universe
There are a million articles and podcasts explaining exactly your question. Those will be better than HN responses. I suggest you take 15 seconds to Google it.
green-eclipse··on Show HN: I made some ambient music generators that run in your browser
Absolutely love this concept. One issue I'm having after listening for a while to a variety of the channels is that the music is all pretty "sad."

I don't know enough about music theory to give you more detail than that, but is there a way you can add more upbeat songs, to get my mood up, energy up, motivation kicking in? Listening to these, I kind of want to take a nap.

green-eclipse··on Apple M2 Die Shot and Architecture Analysis – Big Cost Increase and A15 Based IP
Often unreported, Apple also has $100B in debt. Google and Microsoft have a better net cash and cash equivalents position than Apple.

green-eclipse··on Ask HN: Are there any good poverty simulator games?
Wow. That's hard core indeed.
green-eclipse··on Ask HN: Are there any good poverty simulator games?
Look at this thread. There's lots of interesting examples that are viable games. Not blockbusters maybe, but worthy of creation.
green-eclipse··on Ask HN: Are there any good poverty simulator games?
Very intriguing and interesting concept. Their website (https://reallivesworld.com) really leans into the angle for academic use too. Thanks for sharing this.
green-eclipse··on Ask HN: Are there any good poverty simulator games?
This looks amazing. Thanks for sharing.
green-eclipse··on Ask HN: Are there any good poverty simulator games?
Looks interesting. Seems to be more of a fantasy-dystopian "last civilization on earth" version of SimCity.
green-eclipse··on Ask HN: Are there any good poverty simulator games?
This looks really interesting, thank you.

green-eclipse··on $5939 per meter "Audiophile Approved" Mains Cable
Reminiscent of the Diamond series of HDMI cables on Amazon that sold for thousands of dollars. The Amazon reviews on these products are hilarious:

green-eclipse··on Ask HN: People who use different emails everywhere, who sold you to spammers?
That has not stopped it. I get SMS spam from different phone numbers (even for the same campaigns) constantly. It's really frustrating.
