Allow yourself and your pretentious shit.
libeclipse··on [dead]
UK citizen here. We're in the middle of political and economical turmoil right now, but even still, comparing the most basic services and systems here with their American counterparts is just shocking.

For example, our currently struggling NHS is still a million times better than the mess that is the US medical system.

America isn't "great" at all. It's not even that free. But people there just smile at their freedom while everything around them burns.

libeclipse··on How I threw away a work of art
He fully deserved that.

He had the right to destroy the work since it was his and in his property, but to then whine about it just because he learned of its monetary value... It's just wrong.

Pfft, and calling it a "work of modern art" after the fact.

libeclipse··on Tor's Fall Harvest: The Next Generation of Onion Services
It's also great as a secure and anonymous alternative to something like noip.
libeclipse··on LineageOS for microG – Access Google services without closed software
It's a fork of LineageOS, which is the daughter of CyanogenMod, which is a fork of Android.

Only difference when comparing against LineageOS is that the OpenGApps package is "free".

libeclipse··on iOS designers: What is it with all the motion lately?
But it's not really a problem, is it?

If your wife gets ill from looking at an animation, I feel as though she needs medical help, and a specialist device that's tuned for special accessibility needs. Not workarounds.

libeclipse··on Chelyabinsk-40 – Russia's other nuclear disaster
Jesus fucking christ. Why is this the "other" disaster, it's much, much worse in every aspect.
libeclipse··on Time Travel Debugging
Just waiting for the rust/lisp squad to come along and tell us that we wouldn't need all this if we just joined them.
libeclipse··on Security.txt
Nice idea, but a little inconsistent. Even their own site doesn't comply with their own RFC.
libeclipse··on Security.txt
He means if you have a domain you can pretty much serve whatever you want off of it.
libeclipse··on Security.txt
> It's an initiative for knowing the people behind a website. It's a TXT file that contains information about the different people who have contributed to building the website.

Not sure why you linked that, it doesn't fit at all. They're solving completely different problems.

libeclipse··on Redesigning the smartphone dial pad
> This hasn't changed in a long time.

> This is not because it is working.

Err...

libeclipse··on Britain Moves to Criminalize Reading Extremist Material on the Internet
What? Why would HTTPS prevent logging. Do you mean a VPN?
libeclipse··on Britain Moves to Criminalize Reading Extremist Material on the Internet
In the UK, your internet browsing history is stored by your ISP for one year.
libeclipse··on Britain Moves to Criminalize Reading Extremist Material on the Internet
It's a conservative party speech, so it's not law yet. But the censorvatives can pretty much push through any law they want at this point.
libeclipse··on Britain Moves to Criminalize Reading Extremist Material on the Internet
Gun control is the elephant in the room.
libeclipse··on DNA in the dock: flawed techniques send innocent people to prison
I'm wondering if it could ever get to the point where you should never give away your old clothes in case the next owner dies and you're incarcerated for murder.

Incineration-As-A-Service anyone?

libeclipse··on Google CEO Appeases Publishers with Subscriptions
Well fuck.
libeclipse··on The tale of aux.c
Lol, a huge wall of text because the OP doesn't want to rename a single file.

Jeez.

libeclipse··on Hack – A typeface designed for source code
Yeah like, why bother stressing over the exact configuration of pixels that you're using to make your i's tail.

Just pick a monospaced font that you can read and get to making something worthwhile.

libeclipse··on Parents Who Pay to Be Watched
Am I the only one getting serious Black Mirror vibes?
libeclipse··on HSBC is killing my business, piece by piece
There better be some serious god damned compensation for that company at the end of this. Jesus Christ, I wouldn't even know where to start in estimating the damages.
libeclipse··on Fucking Sue Me (2011)
> I’m not sure what the lesson is here.

Aha, I laughed out loud. I love this guy.

libeclipse··on Man Who Refused to Decrypt Hard Drives Still in Prison After Two Years
> Investigators said content stored on the encrypted hard drive matched file hashes for known child pornography content.

This makes zero sense. It would have to be an utterly terrible encryption program for anyone to be able to see the hashes of the encrypted files.

libeclipse··on Man Who Refused to Decrypt Hard Drives Still in Prison After Two Years
Anyone with half a brain wouldn't trust anything they get back from a third party.
libeclipse··on Impact of breast milk on IQ, brain size and white matter development (2010)
Sample_size = 1;
libeclipse··on Mailable Live Animals
Considering how terrible USPS is, why would anyone ever trust them with anything, never mind a live animal.
libeclipse··on I failed to prevent my kid from going to college
tl;dr the rantings of some dude that did poorly in his own time at college and thinks all it consists of is liberal arts degrees

Note: I'm a university student in the UK, studying a serious technical degree. I'm not sure if this level is equivalent to "college" in the US, I assume so.

libeclipse··on Japan Is Selling Ice Cream That Doesn't Melt
Exactly. It's all about taste.

I think that comment was a little condescending. Personally I love Ben & Jerry's, and it's a little offensive that you think I "don't recognize quality" and I "only like it because it was first to market".

Allow that, it tastes God damned brilliant, and you can't take away from that.

libeclipse··on Casually removing root files
That comment comes across as very arrogant. Of course if you're familiar enough with the system then you'll have no need to read this, and you can go off and seek gratification installing Gentoo and telling everyone about it.

But some people don't know, and benefit from learning it. So chill.
