YouTube has really taken off for Music, a lot of share our joy of particular music within the comments section, and now people live chat in channels that continuously run music “live”. Lo Fi channels do this a lot.
All that said, I got bored of Lo Fi pretty quickly. For those interested, melodic house (downtempo trance) is really good these days, for example the below were some of my favourite sets recently
If I download 1TB through my VPN, dont they have bandwidth costs for 1 TB as well?
Even if he does provide a screenshot, I am not sure if an AMA is the best type of post for Hacker News - there is no unique or insightful content in the original post apart from a set of links
For example, this Common Lisp cheat sheets covers a large part of the language and isnt hard to follow

I was doing some Haskell and Racket and I found basics not too hard to learn, but I did then too hard to master, but I think thats to do more with the complexities of the problems I tried to solve and less to do with the languages themselves
If I was posting the article for myself, I would be quite disheartened to spend so many hours and get such direct feedback.
I think its better to leave balanced comment and some positives or not to respond at all. I read the comments and thought to myself oh boy have to check out this site, it must be terrible, which I hardly found to be the case.
I had a look at the website and it looked fine, not my tastes (I like mono fonts), but overall perfectly acceptable.
Perhaps a discussion about the content of the article would be more relevant.

ps I was having a go at non GPL licenses, because they simply give away everything.
What is PD?
Then they shouldn’t get shocked when it works against them. If you are releasing open source (especially under permissive licenses) you are relinquishing your rights - so do it from a view that its charity to the world, but don’t expect to get all the compliments for doing OSS work but also _expect_ market rates for the work you did. No one agreed to pay you for it, no one agreed to pay you royalties for using your product in theirs and so forth.
The strategy that is well tried in the US is to go for counterfeiting/copyright, to seek the most damages. Copyright/IP law can carry significantly more damages, both in France and in the US, compared to a contractual dispute. (Remember that it’s all about money!)
For an IP violation, the court typically looks at the gain of the counterfeiter. That may be winning and executing the government contracts for Orange. My guess is a government contract like that can go for 7 to low 8 figures.
For a contractual violation, the court typically looks at the loss of the victim. That may be some licensing fees and contracting fees for Entr’Ouvert. My guess is a library like that can go for 6 figures, while the bigger player selling OIDC/SAML solutions (Sun, ForgeRock, Oracle, Microsoft) go for an amount per user per year, easily adding up to 7 figures (but I don’t think that one standalone library from a small vendor in 2003 can do that).
Entr’Ouvert followed the counterfeiting strategy, they sued for counterfeiting and got dismissed. (I should stress out that it was a very reasonable strategy, similar law exist, it should have worked, it just didn’t).
That is a great quote!
All that said, I am not an expert so would like to learn more. Can somebody let me know why one cannot just take the assembly version of an existing compiler and carefully review its code to be happy with it and then build everything from that verified compiler? Why does it need so many steps?
Sometimes I struggle with deep thinking at my desk - its too quiet / stable. A little bit of distraction helps. Not to say I don’t think while at my desk, I just think walking is a great compliment and in our sedentary lives, better to think on our feet and leave the desk to implementation / coding.
I say this after two productive walks today :)
By most, I mean the vast majority (hence my perplexion and need to comment and confirm my understanding)
