nullbyte··on Web Origami, for making websites where you can understand how they’re made
This looks great! I love the simplicity of the syntax. I feel like other static site generators can get too crazy with syntax and features, making it hard to learn. I think Origami is really nice in comparison. Also great looking docs.

nullbyte··on The nasty neighbor effect in humans
I have no idea what this abstract is saying. It's like word soup. Maybe it's too late at night to read this.
nullbyte··on Biden proposes 30% tax on crypto mining
Those are the current stats. If the corporate tax rate is raised to 28%, as Biden is proposing, the US would be far above the average.
nullbyte··on Biden proposes 30% tax on crypto mining
Some notable stuff:

- Corporate tax rate increases by 7% for all businesses

- 30% excise tax on electricity costs associated with crypto mining

nullbyte··on Paint on Windows is getting layers and transparency support
It brings me so much joy to know that Paint is still under active development.

nullbyte··on Ever-expanding animation of the life of the 796th floor of a space station
This is amazing, there's so much detail and little easter eggs everywhere. I like the headless guy in the gym XD

iOS keyboards given “full access” in settings can see literally everything you type. That’s why I don’t use GBoard on my iPhone, also why I don’t enable “enhanced spellcheck” in Chrome.

Psh, didn't think so. Amateur.

nullbyte··on Grandmaster level in StarCraft II using multi-agent reinforcement learning
That's the difference between APM vs EPM in Starcraft.
nullbyte··on Show HN: OpenCV based multi-object-tracker with various object detection models
PyImageSearch is a fantastic resource for learning this stuff. Highly recommend it.
nullbyte··on Grandmaster level in StarCraft II using multi-agent reinforcement learning
Interestingly, AlphaStar has very low APM compared to human players. This is because humans do a lot of insignificant actions when button mashing, whereas AlphaStar is extremely precise with its moves.

That's why when you compare APM graphs between Alpha and a human player, the human almost always ranks higher in actions-per-minute.

nullbyte··on US Law Enforcement Traces Bitcoin Transfers to Nab ‘Largest’ Child Porn Site
Once you tumble your coins in the Monero blockchain, it's practically untraceable. Every transaction makes it harder and harder for authorities to track.

At this point in time, consensus is that Monero is safe.

nullbyte··on AirPods Pro
Are the Pixel Buds bad?
nullbyte··on AirPods Pro
I have the Sony 1000XM2 headphones. They are fantastic at noise cancellation and audio quality, but I feel your pain with the bluetooth pairing woes.

Whenever switching between my mac, PC, or phone, I have to repair the headphones. Very annoying.

nullbyte··on When everyone suddenly started using “impressed” as an opener
"human acquisition engineer"

Yeah, I'd say that's pretty accurate

nullbyte··on When everyone suddenly started using “impressed” as an opener
I understand your frustration with recruiters in general (those pesky bastards!), but do you really think using the word "impressive" is so bad?

Sometimes it's just the right word for the situation. Sure, they'd probably be better off whipping out the old Thesaurus, but ultimately this seems like a non-issue.

nullbyte··on Amazon Has Transformed the Hasidic Economy
The article says they acquire most of their merchandise through local, physical clearance sales. I don't think they're ordering much from China.
nullbyte··on US Law Enforcement Traces Bitcoin Transfers to Nab ‘Largest’ Child Porn Site
This is why you should exchange your Bitcoin to Monero.

Transfer the value to another anonymized blockchain and make future transactions nearly impossible to track.
