Get with the times, gramps! Internal combustion engines, are, like, totally last century.
Hope you're proud of yourself, lol.
Say what?
Adding a 'NOT NULL' to your database fields is a no-brainer.
Not true, this deal never went through due to anti-monopoly regulations.
They put in huge amounts of effort into things that don't need solving, and the things that need to be solved they do in the most roundabout way possible.
What we _really_ need is a sandboxed VM for running C code securely and efficiently.
The JVM is pretty much the opposite of that; it's not sandboxed, not secure and certainly not efficient as a target for C code.
We're hoping WASM starts over from scratch and does things right this time around.

How about that, eh? Funny how a simple change of political platform will U-turn your support of so-called 'free speech'!
It's better than Candy Crush (no overt addicting psychological tricks) but ultimately the same kind of waste of time.
No child ever grew up and said "gee, how great it is that I spent 10000 hours in Minecraft instead of doing sports or learning a useful skill".
I grew up on video games myself; trust me, it sucks.
"Figuring out your interests" isn't the hard or useful part. The hard part is changing your default (usually harmful) interests into something useful and productive.
That involves lots of psychology and (yes) manipulation and coercion.
It's not rocket science, a mole rat could figure out that kids want to play video games and eat candy all day long.
One of the things I'm forever resentful for is the way my life was ruined by not learning things in a structured and rigorous way in childhood. Re-learning (and learning to learn) in adulthood is a pain and is never quite as good as doing it right the first time around.
Thankfully, my own kids are spared of this horror.
C++ templates are far from user-friendly, but they're literally (literally) just Lisp S-expressions with a Lisp syntax and semantics.
It's just a Lisp-like language with a slightly different syntax for S-expressions. Ugly, like all Lisps, but nothing 'monstrous'.
(Rust is good idea, but about 10 years immature. Come back in 2029.)
Absolutely not true for C++. The language was invented to guarantee memory safety, like Rust was. (The fact that people ignore the safety features when coding is irrelevant, people liberally throw 'unsafes' around in Rust and Haskell too.)
Windows the OS is gonna die sooner or later, it's a question of time. Windows the legacy application API layer is probably gonna stick around forever.
Linux kernel + proprietary Windows application compatibility secret sauce seems like a killer combination. (Think Wine, except easy to use and actually working, and commercial.)
I think the only thing stopping Microsoft from following this plan is legacy devs and managers having a vested interest to keep their jobs around.
No. That's on synthetic benchmarks. Run a real server and you see that Java shits its pants while a C++ service is running rings around it.
That's because memory/cache fragmentation and usage is vastly more important in 2019 than CPU cycles.
CICO is demonstrably bullshit. Vodka and Coca-Cola have the same number of calories, but vastly different effects on a person's metabolism. Just compare a vodka binge drinker with a coke binge drinker.
Yeah, welcome to medicine. If you've ever encountered these things in a non-theoretic perspective (i.e., having some condition), you quickly see that doctors don't know shit.
Perhaps not surprising, given that human experimentation is taboo.
Anyways, how does what you're saying mesh with the fact that extra glucose is stored in your body's reserves while ketones are secreted with urine and breath?
No they're not. Most are doing pointless non-work (or negative work) because businesses need to show 'growth', usually by inflating head and report count.
Use-after-free is a C thing, not a C++ thing. Granted, C++ makes is super easy to code in C, but that's an organization problem that is already solved in any sane project.
The sheer, mind-boggling rational and learning capacity needed to learn highly symbolic and abstract things like language and arithmetic means that babies are 'smarter' than adults.
(If by 'smarter' we mean the capacity for learning, mental models and abstract generalization.)
Since when is 'emotion' is some sort of validation of personal worth instead of a condition you need to learn to live with?
Any sane person with half a brain hates Electron.
(Not that there are any good alternatives, but still...)
Basically, HTTP/2 is tuned for a very specific case of Google traffic which pretty much never happens in places that aren't Google.
No, http2 is not better. We actually did the tests. We're not quite Google-scale, but having to handle tens of thousands of requests per second put us in the 'high load' camp.
Are you mad? Nobody suddenly becomes 'addicted'. Addiction is something you do willfully and deliberately to yourself. Addiction is not a disease, it is a form of self-harm.
Often if "performance sucks" then it isn't done and isn't working. Performance is a client requirement like any other.
The difference turned out to be no big deal, less than x2 in speed. The real performance killer seems to be garbage collection and chasing pointers due to inefficient data structures. Luajit doesn't help much here.
In the end we went with stock lua because it doesn't have the 1 gigabyte memory limit, and so can use a much larger thread pool.
