pylua··on Salesforce will hire no more software engineers in 2025, says Marc Benioff
What exactly have they achieved with ai? What incredible progress has been made ? Does anyone know, I am genuinely curious.

AI has increased my productivity greatly, but it is a long way away from replacing my Job. Though maybe I am biased.

pylua··on How can NBA address 3-point boom? Ranking 12 potential solutions
The three pointer isn’t the problem. I actually prefer the three point shooting. It also seems like it encourages athleticism over raw size.

The real problem, in my opinion, is the lack of aggression. It’s what made sports more interesting to watch in the 80s and 90s. It’s been toned down to the point where it’s not interesting.

pylua··on Are A.I. Clones the Future of Dating? I Tried Them for Myself
My first impression to your last paragraph was disappoint that we are using this sort of tech to solve this problem.

When I thought a little more, I realized it may not be a bad thing. This will solve an actual problem for real people in an area where many potential solutions have failed.

I do understand it seems weird today, but it may be a good thing.

pylua··on Amazon employees send AWS chief an letter against RTO policy
Exactly. Company values, when it comes to those high up are essentially rules for thee and not for me.
pylua··on Why is it so hard to find a job now? Enter Ghost Jobs
I am also not a lawyer, but it seems like purposefully lying about how many jobs you have in order to increase the stock price seems… shady at best.
pylua··on Why is it so hard to find a job now? Enter Ghost Jobs
Are you suggesting that companies are committing FRAUD ?
pylua··on We're Leaving Kubernetes
Really? I can't imagine not running the code locally. Honestly, my company has a micro services architecture, and I will just comment out the docker-compose pieces that I am not using. If I am developing/testing a particular component then I will enable it.

How tightly coupled are these systems?

pylua··on GitHub Spark lets you build web apps in plain English
I think this is missing the point. The whole point is for it to do things you don’t know how to do.

For instance , generate a web front end that meets U.S. rules and regulations for executing a 401k roll over.

If you didn’t know how to do this then how can you audit it?

pylua··on GitHub Spark lets you build web apps in plain English
The problem with ai is the error checking piece. It’s nice that it can do this but I don’t see evidence it can validate what it generates at scale. Even then, how would you validate an ai validation ?
pylua··on Why Tech Employees Are Ready to Revolt
I’m not following. What does setting a debt ceiling have to do with making for profit corporations public benefit ?

What’s the main contributor to the current government spending ?

pylua··on Why Tech Employees Are Ready to Revolt
I’m okay with the value of the dollar drastically decreasing. In fact, I think it will naturally do so due to the high debt and labor becoming more expensive in other countries.

I think it would be good for U.S. workers as it will help make them more competitive in a global labor market.

pylua··on How I write code using Cursor
Unit tests are boiler plate ?
pylua··on 1 in 6 Companies Are Hesitant to Hire Recent College Graduates
What country is this for? I see a lot of hiring of new graduates in krakow and Hyderabad.
pylua··on Redbox left PII on decommissioned machines
What’s wrong with having an interface with one implementation ? It’s meant to be extended by code outside the current repo most likely. It’s not a smell in any sense.
pylua··on Owe your banker £1k you are at his mercy; owe him £1m the position is reversed (2019)
So, does this work at the country macro level ?
pylua··on AIHawk: AI bot to automatically apply for jobs
That’s the point. Will I have to resort to using informal English to not be labeled AI?

For instance, sup.

pylua··on AIHawk: AI bot to automatically apply for jobs
Almost like we need to develop a new language where the license for use does not allow training on ai. Like ww2 when Navajo was used…

Because it’s ridiculous to think we can’t use proper English for fear of being labeled an ai!

pylua··on Gen AI Makes Legal Action Cheap – and Companies Need to Prepare
It seems like the best use of ai / computing power would be to do common law through llm? I understand it’s nuanced and complicated but that seems like a good use case for our current ai systems ? What am I missing ?
pylua··on Gen AI Makes Legal Action Cheap – and Companies Need to Prepare
This is actually insane. 120,000 comments! To a certain extent if our law is already so complicated that you need to hire a lawyer to understand it that is already a fundamental problem.

Simplify the rules, make it easier to understand and reason about. The computers should be able to determine if someone is breaking a law, not trying to check if it is a bad law.

We should be using computing power where someone can ask: is this legal ? Can I do this? That’s the true value to society.

pylua··on GitHub's Copilot lies about its documentation. Why would I trust it with my code
What is it auto completing? Most of the common things I share between projects are in the form of libraries, there is really no need for ai auto complete. Don’t get me wrong, ai is incredibly useful, but more for understanding things than autocomplete.
pylua··on GitHub's Copilot lies about its documentation. Why would I trust it with my code
That’s what I’m struggling with. I might write a micro service over and over again with spring boot but they are all different. The frameworks take care of all the boiler plate already. Why are we having ai generate boiler plate ? It seems on the surface to be a bad practice or a code smell.
pylua··on GitHub's Copilot lies about its documentation. Why would I trust it with my code
What is the bigger picture? For me it is not with writing the code, it’s a great multiplier for learning and troubleshooting , however.

I do not see how it could fit into my workflow other than how I use it today — a google expert I can talk to about anything.

What is your workflow like?

pylua··on Building a robust frontend using progressive enhancement
Yeah— I was thinking the article was not being fair. That said, try using a website across a wide variety of browsers and os and you will get a wide variety of interpretations. Since it’s a government website that is not acceptable.
pylua··on Building a robust frontend using progressive enhancement
I am definitely one that believes the fronted is way too complicated.

That said, however, there is a list of four inaccessibilities in the article, and I was thinking that spas have work around for these.

pylua··on Companies need junior devs
Not true. I believe there are on going cases here in the U.S.
pylua··on Companies need junior devs
There are some cases working their way through the system now. Can you prevent someone who is senior from taking a junior position? Have to see what the courts say.
