- Delve more into Python, with emphasis on ML part.

- Pick up some JS, enough to build steady UIs

- Read 20 books during the year.

- Take at least 15 days trip preferably out of country, or in the remote parts locally. Planning to do this at least twice in the year ;)

- Spend more time with the family, take kids out more.

Doing freelance gigs is a good option to pick up new skills. If you can hit the ground running and cope up with the stress of learning and delivering at the same time, go for it.

Side note: I got into Python, and web scraping in particular, by picking up few freelance scraping gigs. Learned a lot in few days and this sparked my interest in Python.

Good to hear some good words about WordPress here at HN. I am working with WordPress based sites since ver 1.5. WP, in trained hands, can do wonders. It can be used as a back-end framework accessible via APIs and can also be used to serve static content.

I have separate machines for work and home. I also have separate Skype and Gmail IDs for work. If I have to check SM while at work, I do that on my phone.

Living in Karachi, Pakistan, I so agree with this. Karachi is 3rd largest city in the world and it is getting louder by the day. First thing you notice when you land here is the level of noise. From honking cars to people shouting on the roads, it is unbearable.

While I don't consider myself as a senior engineer, I do try to create mental models before coding. Also, in the code, I create the flow using comment statements which can later be replaced with actual code.

I developed the habit of dry running my code when I started to learn code using GW-BASIC, way back in time.
