questiondev··on A father comforts his son on deathbed. The photo that changed the face of AIDS
this is why i fear people judging others for their sicknesses. my uncle died of aids in the 90s, it was very upsetting losing him and i remember how horrible the stigmatization was, the thing i heard the most often was, “well they shouldn’t have been messing around” and “shoot them all so we can stop the spread of the virus” and “this is god’s judgement on america”.

there was a lot of fear and hatred towards people in the early days, not everyone but it was a real fear in a lot of people’s minds.

it’s hard for me when i see similar things happening today, i really wish we could approach these rogue viruses in a different way, at least from the public relations perspective. i get the fear part but we gotta realize that these are humans who ended up in a terrible unfortunate situation.

this photo almost made me cry because it hurts me to remember what happened with him.

questiondev··on Facebook Messenger – end-to-end encryption delayed to end of 2023
i submitted an app to ios app store recently and they said something about certain encryption has to have some type of government ok before it can be on the app store, is this related to that or?
questiondev··on CPython's main branch running in the browser with WebAssembly
web assembly is making leaps. looks great
questiondev··on Australian government social media legislation to unmask online trolls
they might not care if they (the politicians) are still being feed while the rest of australia starves. look at north korea, the regime is well feed, but also they have contracts with china so that might be why, i couldn’t see australia (a free nation) siding with china, russia, north korea or any other authoritarian government for support in the future but crazier things have happened. history has a ton of examples of that.
questiondev··on Australia to introduce new laws to force media platforms to unmask online trolls
i am really starting to hate this timeline
questiondev··on Australia to introduce new laws to force media platforms to unmask online trolls
i am afraid that what they mean by troll is code for anyone who disagrees with their narrative
questiondev··on Reality shifting: an emergent online daydreaming culture
i think it can be healthy. visionaries are people who see the future using existing constructs, here is a way to look at it, before you do anything you typically think or envision yourself doing that action before you do it, the way it works best is breaking it down into steps instead of staying at the final image. in all actuality if you write each step down and give possible ways to accomplish each step and add a date you have what many planning books call micro goals that lead to the end goal or overall goal. never let the internet stop you from dreaming, a lot more is possible if we allow our minds to think of possible outcomes.

plus, mostly everyone dreams, even a nightmare is a dream, might as well think of alternatives to get yourself out of mental gridlock.

imagination is where abundance exist because abundance is the mindset of how we think about what we have in front of us. scarcity is the limiting of beliefs about the world around us. if we thought the cave was the only shelter none of us would be here sipping on lattes inside of a coffee shop scrolling yc

questiondev··on Open-source home cloud OS allows you to run Docker applications without coding
that looks really nice, might have to spin one up
questiondev··on I faked tons of Covid passes – “Weak Key Cryptography in real world”
does not surprise me, in the future there will only be two governments in the world, polarization will become the norm. each party will think they are right. it will be an umbrella me echo chamber. but it will only exist online. it will manifest in real life but people who dare or who are brave enough to understand someone outside of their comfort zone will quickly realize that we are not 1’s and 0’s within a machine.
questiondev··on Apple will notify users about state-sponsored cybersecurity threats
except in china, i pray that the people of the free world unite from within all countries and say enough is enough to their oppressors. it is wild to think that we still have ill actors in high ranks that are from bloodlines upon bloodlines of “ownership” of nations. there really still is a ruling class that has existed forever, sounds like a conspiracy until you look at who is buddies with who
questiondev··on Ask HN: How do I learn how to tell a good story?
start from the beginning and highlight stuff your audience will drool to hear
questiondev··on Ask HN: At what point should you stop resume-padding unemployment time?
after reading your response, we’ll thought of by the way i mean that, i finally have an answer for the op, jobs really only care about the last 4 to 6 years of your work experience, get those in however you can from this point on and whatever you had to “pad” before those 4-6 won’t matter. at the end of the day, a company wants you to like them, they want a can do attitude and enough sense to figure shit out without being too annoying
questiondev··on Ask HN: At what point should you stop resume-padding unemployment time?
