sabbaticaldev··on A letter to open-source maintainers
not will, that happens all the time. You are stating the obvious. The not so obvious part isis to do the work in place of expecting anything for granted.
sabbaticaldev··on A letter to open-source maintainers
think about a solution that you (and other OSS users) have more work to do then not the maintainers
sabbaticaldev··on Intel's Fall from Grace
the best hires one can do when the strategy is to maximize investors profit short term.
sabbaticaldev··on A letter to open-source maintainers
then you fork it and invest more. Hopefully you will keep the same or better standards you demanded with your own budget
sabbaticaldev··on A letter to open-source maintainers
also known as due diligence. that’s the users of open source burden, not the developers
sabbaticaldev··on A letter to open-source maintainers
> but that's the price they would be paying for the goodwill.

this post exists because of the price of being an open source developer, your solution is to demand more free work?

sabbaticaldev··on The Death of the Stubborn Developer
> Well I wouldn't dismiss the article fully

the article is trash, but the HN discussion is great, both trashing the low quality of the content and discussing why it’s trash

sabbaticaldev··on The Death of the Stubborn Developer
> LLMs will cause an analogous decline in code and coders - every codebase a cesspit of messy mediocrity in outputs, authors, and professional culture.

and we will be paid (a lot) to make them barely work. Most car owners can’t fixes their cars and the ones that destroys theirs are the ones that pay the biggest bills

sabbaticaldev··on The Death of the Stubborn Developer
when junior developers using LLMs become seniors we will have a different kind of senior developers. That won’t be the first time this happen actually. The Java generation and now the JS/Python generation change were very similar.
sabbaticaldev··on Ask HN: What Ever Happened to Hacktivism?
it was successfully destroyed by the CIA
sabbaticaldev··on The Death of the Stubborn Developer
that’s one of the dumbest things i’ve ever read in HN
sabbaticaldev··on Added sugar intake and its associations with incidence of cardiovascular disease
I don’t disagree with you just replied that by logic it is indeed possible to gain or lose weight depending on the type of calories you ingest
sabbaticaldev··on Added sugar intake and its associations with incidence of cardiovascular disease
> I'll bet another $1000 that there are no foods you can find where you don't gain weight eating 500 above that threshold

oh well, you lost money then. It is not even difficult to understand, some types of food/digestion/absorption will hold more or less water weight to the body so it’s possible to lose total weight even eating above the daily needs, for example a nocarb diet

sabbaticaldev··on Syrian government falls in end to 50-year rule of Assad family
that’s why you guys lose elections and scream “russia stole it!”

completely out of touch of reality like a reality distortion field. screaming it louder won’t make you right.

sabbaticaldev··on In wake of CEO shooting, Amazon creates Executive Protection role
> Those are their words, not mine.

that’s literally 100% your words. Unless you have a video of not you saying them.

sabbaticaldev··on In wake of CEO shooting, Amazon creates Executive Protection role
many mourned Steve Jobs death, your theory is flawed
sabbaticaldev··on Syrian government falls in end to 50-year rule of Assad family
what were the options given? Boris Johnson didn’t allow ukraine to negotiate with russia but at the time everybody thought it would be a walk in the park for NATO
sabbaticaldev··on Syrian government falls in end to 50-year rule of Assad family

sabbaticaldev··on Romanian court annuls result of presidential election first round

sabbaticaldev··on Syrian government falls in end to 50-year rule of Assad family

sabbaticaldev··on Syrian government falls in end to 50-year rule of Assad family
10 years ago. They were a problem because they used American cars, clothes, weapons and media.
sabbaticaldev··on Syrian government falls in end to 50-year rule of Assad family
“experts in the field” are a great excuse to manipulate public opinion
sabbaticaldev··on Ask HN: Anyone else loving the new Google Chat?

sabbaticaldev··on If not React, then what?
not anymore. React, I have the impression as a long time developer, might have peaked too
sabbaticaldev··on Ask HN: Asking for implementable advice for taking ownership of Software Product
> Any advice about the whole situation?

first thing, you ask for a core engineer salary. After they say yes you figure out

sabbaticaldev··on Ask HN: What do you do to counter stigma with working in tech?
> It's when they find out that I'm in tech that they really start to distance themselves

is it? or is this what you’re fragile ego tells you in the moments of rejection?

have in mind that your standing is causing a big rejection among other be ppl working in tech so there is more to it, mainly your own behavior

> I didn't think people in tech were any weirder than the general population

not all of us, but some yes. You might benefit from some self awareness

sabbaticaldev··on Ask HN: What do you do to counter stigma with working in tech?
I’m impressed you even have “friends”. By the way you described it I think you are talking about assets
